PS - I'd also think it'd be interesting having a poll of how many people have raced, and those that have raced, have dealt with yellow\red\blue flags. Be interesting seeing how folks have dealt with them in real life.

It shows allegiance... The JS fans think RV is evil and the RV fans think JS is evil.

I started to make a point similar to your PS earlier but ran out of motivation. I know from experience that it's not always easy to see and/or interpret the flags in the heat of battle. That said, the rules need to be clear and consistently enforced in the interest of safety.

That brings me back to RV. He had to have known that he got a big gift with his penalty from prior to the restart. I can't believe he'd do anything remotely questionable so soon after.

The teams know the rules right? If Stewarts crew had an issue with RV only being docked the 3 spots, why didn't they file an immediate protest?

I understand that the original proper call would have been for AMA\Monster to properly penalize RV for his initial Flag infraction. Problem is, like I said before. If Stewarts team had an issue with the call AMA\Monster made, they should have filed immediately.

They didn't. The AMA\Monster call(s) stand. It is what it is.

I think the AMA pretty clearly explained why there was no penalty. If you didn't read the explanation, that is your short coming.

You may not agree with their decision or conclusions, but they made a pretty clear case.

not a stretch by any means but you'd have to think the blunder of letting RV take the 3 spot penalty during the race and not after was the organizing rules body, who ever that is.

also, I understand Monster Energy would want the Monster Energy rider to win but the vibe and the climax to the series couldn't be more electric/bigger/more popular with the average fan if Milsapps can somehow pull this off even if he is Rockstar sponsored.

If the riders aren't even drinking the sponsors drinks on the podium and are clearly faking it do the sponsors really think the fans ultimately give a shit who the sponsors are?

the best thing that can happen for the series this year would be for Milsapps to win with #51, #22, #7, #5, and #1 nipping at his heels all the way in and I hope he does.

Crowther and FIM Race Director John Gallagher carefully studied tape from multiple angles, and they determined that Villopoto had closed in on Stewart under the red cross flag, but had not passed him. Villopoto's bike never edged ahead of Stewart's through the red light or red cross section. For that matter, you can also note that Justin Barcia, third at the time, also gained on Villopoto through that section, leaving the lead three riders nearly, but not quite, even as they rolled the triple. However, they singled all the jumps, and no one made a pass in the red cross or flashing red light section. So they didn’t break any rules.

After the triple came a set of rollers. By then the yellow flags were out (once a rider passes the area with the flashing red light or red cross flag, and then rides under a yellow, they revert to yellow flag rules). Passing is not illegal under yellow flags, but the riders must “proceed with extreme caution.” Since the downed rider, Bobby Kiniry, was already up and restarting his bike, there wasn’t much inherent danger in that section, so when Villopoto edged further up alongside Stewart, and then made the pass in the next corner, he was not in violation of the rules, because he passed under the yellow (which is legal).

Its always the rider more than the bike, but in a mud race some riders just excell in these conditions and others struggle. Its hard to really judge how a 350 will stack up against 450s when there is a foot or more of soup on the track. Its just survival at that point.
Not taking away from Marvin, but he would have had more challengers on a dry track. Its a better test of the performance of the bike on a normal conditioned track, we all know 250's can put up lap times simliar to the 450's in the stadiums. And Caroli is beating 450s on the GP tracks. So the 350 should be an excellent bike on a longer/ faster track like Daytona, as opposed to a tighter track where the 450's torque would kill it accelerating out of the corners.
It will be interesting to see how the 250, 350 and 450 lap times are with 3 top caliber riders on a track that seems best suited to the power delivery/ weight ratio of the 350.
