Ankle brace
So I broke my Fibula over the weekend, and now looking for the best ankle brace that's offered.
With some research I see a brace from DonJoy that seems ok http://www.betterbraces.com/donjoy-velocity-ankle-brace Has anyone seen one of these or have experience with it, or any other to recommend? Thanks in advance. |

Broke my ankle Dec 3 (evulsion fracture distal fibula)! The emergency room doc said to get a Walking Boot, which I did. This is the boot I got: http://www.electro-medical.com/Airca...walking-boots/
After two months, the orthopedist said to get a different ankle brace - Donjoy ankle stabilizer: http://www.betterbraces.com/donjoy-s...ng-ankle-brace I'm now 3 months in and do not wear any brace, do PT exercises to strengthen my ankle, and am working up to walking a mile on a treadmill (which hurts and I still limp a bit). BTW, I'm 67 years old, and if you're younger your healing may go faster! Good luck

I've broken both ankles and have lots of accessory hardware in each. Right one was a medial maleolus fracture only, left one was medial maleolus combined with a complete spiral fracture of the fibula.
I was not allowed to bear weight either time for six weeks atfter which I was fine with no brace at all. I had the aircast both times during the six weeks, and was encouraged to do lots of rotational and flexing excercises to limber up the ankle as long as I put no weight on it. After that still more physio and work to get them loosened up. FIY these were five and three years ago now, I'll let you know when the stiffness and aches go away completely. For the most part though, not really too bad now.
