And don't forget the howling noises when leaned over.

For sure! I'm hearing that now with the RS II's.

after 50k+ miles, my 09 C14 keeps running as or better than new. I do not have those heat issues, probably because I ride with touring boots.
I have consired trading it to get a MY12 but I see no advantage to justify the $$. Waiting for a next generation with the bigger engine and goodies like cruise control.

I ride in tall DS boots (Gaerne Balance and TCX Infinities) and Aerostich roadcrafter and mine still roasts my legs. Either you have a really high heat threshold, or you've never gotten in traffic on a warm day, or you've never ridden it when it's hot out.

I forgot the other thing that makes a difference. If I stick the middle of my foot on the peg, the temps are more bearable, but with the balls of me feet on the pegs the hot airflow changes to nasty. |

I have the similar result with foot position. If I keep the my feet on the pegs and pointed straight (legs fully behind faring), there is a bit of heat that radiates up from the engine. If I point my toes out and put my knee in the breeze, quite a bit of heat gets pulled in...I surmise it's normally exhausted thru the exterior fairing vents but my knee position changes the airflow. If I put my heel on the footpeg with my leg hanging in the breeze as far as possible, not so much heat gets by. |

Catching up on this thread and laughing about the OEM tyres howling. Even the missus said something about it, comparing the noise to worn Tourances on the GS. Pretty good lean indicators I suppose.
Next, I send best wishes to EgoDriver and hope all ends well in the smash-up drama. And finally, I don't experience the heat issues as of yet, but when I'm in traffic my fans run A LOT! Seems perfectly fine and normal though. We will see what summer brings. I ride ATGATT including tall Sidi boots or 8" workboots. The Sidis are hot in general but all my bikes over the years resemble Coleman grills in hot weather... |

It could be the passenger howling when the bike is cranked over ....
