The April issue of RoadRunner Mag has a great article on touring in RI and surrounding states. They actually use TT as their headquarters for this months Shamrock tour.

If time allows, ride along Ocean Drive (technically Ocean Ave on a map I just looked at)....it a nice scenic area along the shore just past downtown Newport.

I would stop in historic Jamestown on your way to Newport and take a ride through Beavertail Point. Only a few miles out your way, well worth it.

If you like clam chowder, stop in the Black Pearl in Newport. Know that "Rhode Island chowder" is clear; I prefer the traditional "New England" style.
I second Ocean Drive. Watch for sand on the roadway! If you like lighthouses, I recommend going down to Beavertail on Jamestown (you'll pass over it on your way to/from Newport). If you're looking for groomed, fire service type dirt roads, let me know and I'll send my easy loop that's nearby to Twisted. Stop at Lenz on the North Fork and pick me up a bottle of the cuvée. You can leave it at TT for me ![]() Have fun! It's so nice to have folks visit the littlest state.

Tiverton has some amazing roads, that area is well worth the time to noodle around up there. |

Also, incorporate bits of the Washington Rochambeau Route if you can. The W3R follows a lot of very nice, curvy roads in the Northwest corner of the state. It'll eventually drop you in Ct, so have your passport on hand to cross the border.

I live in Newport, and love Becky's BBQ,, but coming to Newport to get BBQ is a bit like going to Maine for Mexican Food

I live across the river from the Ferry, there are FAR better roads to get to Exeter than 1 and 1a.
