Garmin Express

My wife is getting ready for a short trip, so I wanted to make sure the GPS was updated. I downloaded the newish Garmin Express software and while it seems to work fine, they seemed to have missed the mark in at least one area. Under the older Lifetime Map Updater you had the option to download the map to either the unit, the computer, or both. That option seems to be missing now (unless I just couldn't find it).

I also found that Garmin has removed the LMU software from their site! I have no issues with SW updates, but at least continue to give us the same functionality as before.

If you search the web for a GarminMapUpdater_v3.1.19.exe or similar and download it, it will let you update both places.

I still have the map updater on my netbook. But was surprised that the replacement for map updater didn't give me an option.

Warning, unfounded rumor: I can't recall exactly where, but someone on another GPS-centric forum site said that the Garmin people are going to fix that. Who knows when, or even if it is true.

I'll stick with my trusty old map updater.
