New WNC Motorcycle Tours!

Hello Everyone,

I would like to introduce our newest product and tell you a little about myself and my company. As a motorcyclist and adventure seeker, I believe you all will love what we have come up with.

The Product: WNC Motorcycle Tours
There are some big names in the business of motorcycle tours and from what some of my clients tell me, they do a great job. However, at this time no tour operator had developed motorcycle tours to the Appalachian Mountains in Western North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. As many of you know, some of our countryís best motorcycle roads are here in the Appalachian Mountains.

From a riderís standpoint, I have also observed some ways to improve upon an aging model. Unlike other motorcycle tours available we have designed ours for the most relaxing, convenient, an enjoyable experience possible. While other plan a route and itinerary that has you stopping at a different hotel for rest each night, we have pre-planned routes that begin and end at the same spot each day.

This approach is much better for the rider because you donít have to carry all of your stuff with you each day. No packing and unpacking, or stopping to fix the tie downs on your bike that have come loose. Instead, you get to relax on a brand new Harley Davidson and enjoy the ride. You also get to experience any of the award winning restaurants Asheville, NC is famous for. When you return to the new Aloft Hotel each night, you are familiar with where you are and what to do for the evening.

Our motorcycle tours are designed to be self-guided adding another level of personalization and flexibility. If you donít feel like riding one day, you donít have to, or you can set off on your own adventure. (This fall of 2013 we will begin our guided series for those who like the traditional way of touring).

We have partnered with Harley Davidson to provide late model motorcycles for our tours. Riders get to choose from Touring, Softail, and Sportster models. Helmet and Riding gear is included with the rentals along with full coverage motorcycle insurance and 24 Hour roadside assistance.
I am confident that our tours are the most prepared and planned adventures available today. I have personally been working on this concept for over two years and it is all finally coming together.

Our tours start at $1,143.14 per person for a 4 day tour of the Appalachian Mountains. You will see parts of North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia as well as the upstate South Carolina Area.

If you are not familiar with WNC let me share some pictures of our beautiful home.

**These pictures are not my property and they can be found by Google searching WNC.

What is Included?

3 nights lodging at the new Aloft Hotel in Downtown Asheville, NC
Late model Harley Davidson Motorcycle rental
Full coverage motorcycle insurance
Helmet and riding gear
Breakfast daily
Route guidance with suggested stops and sights
24 hour roadside assistance
Area information

Who We Are: Wilcox World Travel &Tours

My Great Grandfather along with my Grandfather created our company in 1953 in Boone, NC. My Great Grandfather ran the Trailways Bus Station and the travel agency was opened up in the corner of the bus station that year. Unbelievably, they were very successful in their first years selling airline tickets with the Charlotte Airport being more than 3 hours away. In 1965 my Grandfather packed up the family and moved to Asheville, NC into the brand new BB&T building. To this day our office is located in the BB&T building and we are on the top floor, providing some of the best views WNC has to offer. Over the years, our business has thrived and we have specialized in group travel to the Holy Land among our other services of Corporate Travel, Missionary/Humanitarian Aid, Christian Travel, and Leisure/Vacation Travel. To say that we cover many aspects of travel is an understatement.

Through the years my Grandfather and Father have seen agencies come and go but they have remained because of their commitment to the traveler and our agents desire to provide more than just a vacation. As the fourth generation in the family business, I have taken the opportunity to add yet another aspect to our company and bring riders from all over the world to visit my home.

My Invitation

I would like to invite two riders from (moderators or senior members) to come on an all-expense paid trip and experience our tour first hand. I will personally escort and ride along with you. My only requirement is that you help provide feedback on what I can do to improve our tour and ask that you provide a short write up on your experience to be used for marketing purposes.

Moderators of the site have first dibs and if I do not have two who are interested by March 22, 2013, I will open it up to Long Term Members of the site. The dates to tour are flexible and once I have two people we will work together to find a time where both can participate. Touring will be 4 days and 3 nights and travel time to and from Asheville, NC and will begin no sooner than April 2013.

I am not making this opportunity available to any other forum group. This is an ADV rider Special.

You can visit our website to check us out. My name is Tyler Wilcox so please feel free to contact me for any questions you may have.

How to Qualify

Minimum Age is 21 years
Hold a Valid Motorcycle Endorsement
The skill, knowledge, and ability to operate a motorcycle
Provide a fully refundable damage deposit with a major credit card in the amount of $2,000 (required by Harley Davidson)

I look forward to knowing and being a part of this community. I have been reading and lurking for some time and the quality of ride reports and knowledge on this site is why I have chosen to make such an offer here.

I am looking for feedback so if you have any suggestions please PM me, I would love to talk to you!

Moderators have first dibs? Will there be any XR1200s in your fleet? You might want to think about offering bikes that actually handle well and can cope with decreasing radius turns. It's sort of like flying to Ca and renting a Humvee to drive on the PCH. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but maybe this site isn't your target market. Eagle Rider in Knoxville already has that segment covered. You wanted feedback. Glad to help.
"If you are looking for the typical ride to a restaurant, eat tacos, hold the middle finger over the food, stop and take a picture of a gravel road type ride, you probably won't be interested." - dlrides

"A guy I know was the lead researcher for the University of Utah federally funded study of cellphone and texting use while driving. He found that your twice as dangerous as a drunk while using your cell phone and I think it was up to six times worse if the driver was texting."-dakardad

Your feedback is appreciated. My intent to offering the free tour to moderators first is due to their work to keep this site up and running. I am glad to be a new member and thought an all expense paid trip (flight, rental, food, lodging, etc) would be a nice way to say thanks for running a free service that I can use.

I own a Harley along with a Suzuki Drz 400s. I understand thieir bikes are not for everyone but as a rider I enjoy both for their intended purposes. After reading many ride reports on this site over the last few months I believe there are many others who feel the same way. Harley also works very hard to get people on their motocycles and I think that contributes to their success. I do not own the bikes or maintain the fleet, they all come from local dealers delivered serviced and ready to ride.

Eventually, our goal is to develop dual sport rides and tours as well, next weekend I will be out scouting on the drz and planning the routes.

I hope you did not take my first dibs comment the wrong way. The problem is I can only offer two free trips in order to start my promotions. The two riders who come along with me will see how our tour is designed and how it offers something different than the experience that eagle rider provides.

Thanks and ride safe!
