Which Adventure do I buy? What is the value?

I'm trying to decide between a nicely maintained 2004 950 Adventure (@ 8,000 miles) for approximately $7000, or a demo 2011 990 Adventure at the dealer for $13,000. I've done a ton of reading on this forum, and at, but I need some advice from the gang.

The 950 appeals to me for the simplicity of carbs, and the 990 is attractive for both the full warranty, and the engine updates since 2004.

Will the 950 be significantly better than the 2011 990 in more technical dirt riding?

The usage will be as follows:
40% paved roads
40% graded gravel/dirt
10% rough gravel/dirt
10% single track

Thanks in advance!

Find a 2011 for $11k. Can be done. 13 is too much.

He's in Canada, he won't find the same deals as in the US and he can't import bikes newer than 2007.

Brand new they retail for 17k $ here and I've never seen any demo for less than 13 500$.

About his question on which one is better off road, I beleive the 2004 should be little higher, longer travel. 230mm vs 210mm but it's really not what should orient your choice as any of those bike could use suspension tuning so you can get more travel at that time if you wish.
