Rode on some interesting stuff at the beginning of this thread and the cast wheels did great. I posted pics of the tires on the bike in another thread around here somewhere.

UpST8, you sure do make the desert look appealing.
Moe.Ron, it looks like you are about ready for Death Valley.....Only one month to go.

Hi
![]() I did sign up for one ride at Death Valley although I'm probably going to change that. Right now I'm signed up for the Rhyolite and Titus Canyon ride on Fri. I signed up for it when it first posted and there's a lot more to choose from now so I'll go through all the options and decide if I want to do any of them or not. Since I'm taking my DR200 I figured the sidecar ride would be my speed. ![]() I'm going to be there all week riding so I hope to get the chance to see the things I really want to see before the rally starts. After that then I can take rides to be social.

I was not on Pine Canyon with UpST8 that day. However, I do know I need to pick up the pace a bit or I will get left in the dust! I get a little faster and a little more confident each time out.
I can't get the thought of how much I owe on that bike out of the back of my mind while riding, slows me down a bit. Don't care nearly as much now as I did before seeing it on its side a couple times! Who has an old, beat up, street legal dirt bike they want to sell?

![]() Went out for a ride Sunday (no moe.) The weather was questionable all day, looked like rain and did for a small time.. Went out to Lockwood Valley to explore some roads I never hit, but unfortunately they were all closed for the winter... Head was kind of loopy today and for whatever reason I really didn't feel like riding. It's wierd, but I get like that from time to time. Look forward to riding all week and then get out there to not really be into it, but do I stop??? Hell No!! Go faster, go farther Wrestle that fucking happiness out of this day ![]() Anyway...I did some sand riding practice in the dry river bed by Dry Canyon Road, nothing too crazy ![]() ![]() The tings of rocks off the new bash plate made me smile Checked out Quatal Canyon's condition...waaaayyy drier than last time we were here ![]() ![]() |

Yesterday went up 33 in hopes of making a dirt loop with Sierra Madre ridge road
Don't think I will ever tire of this road ![]() Up and over the first summit, dropped 20 degrees in 4k feet of elevation gain ![]() ![]() Slowed down through the bends with my eyes wide for ice...the temp guage began to blink after it reached 37 Came around a sharp turn to see a line of cars...there had been an accident Never a good sign to see a chopper on scene ![]() I did chat up the boyscouts and scout leaders while we waited to be let through the scene...one car accident...one person left in Ambulance..the other concious, but hurt; left in the Helo The scouts were off for their first camping trip...it was going to be one chilly one for em.. After being let through the scene the roads certainley didn't improve, kept thinking about the accident and the flag man's words of "People don't respect this mountain. I have scene so many one vehicle accidents here" As I climbed to go over the last of the summits I was in the clouds, temps dropped down into the high 20s,a mist / light rain, my hands were frozen, windscreen was covered with ice and I was getting nervous. Turned around at one point only to turn around again and drive on with hopes it would be better in the valley. It was, but I was done...my hands hurt so bad I swore my thumbs would be black with frost bite when I took my gloves off...this is with grip heaters too...dang I need to get some hand guards with good wind protection...MSR E-Ears ![]() Stopped for some coffee, warmed up and made it a paved loop around 166 to Foxen Canyon to home...not many pics, but I did get this one at 75mph ![]() UpST8 screwed with this post 03-10-2013 at 10:32 PM |
