I use an 8 GB card in mine, and others have used a 16 GB card with no problems.
8 GB gives me plenty of room for maps, Zumo 550 is limited to one 4GB gmapsupp.img file on the SD card. Plus nearly 1000 MP3 files |

I'm not seeing where you get the option to load it to the SD Card. It states:
Device Device and Computer Computer When I go to computer it automatically dumps it to the Garmin folder. Then I have to move it...which takes quite some time. BG

Been a while but.....
Before you do anything plug your GPS (with SD installed) into the computer and verify that you see 2 new drives one being the GPS internal memory and the other being the SD which will look like a flash drive. The choose to download both to computer and GPS (may be on an "Advanced Options" type menu). Not sure what happens next but I think if it is an update it will install over the original in it's location, otherwise should give you the option of which drive. Obviously this is via the GPS cable vs. a card reader which I have never used. Bruce |

OK I'm having some trouble with this issue. I have downloaded the latest map to a new 8GB SD card following the directions above. When I turn on my 550 it only shows the older map and not the one I installed on the SD card. How do i get it to recognize the map on the SD card? I copied some of my mp3's onto the sd card as well and it finds them with no problem.
Thanks |

Yes, but this thread has been active since then because people are still needing help. It is funny how threads are like time machines :)
