It's very stout. You'll see...

That's how I move my KLR and my old XRL around...grab the crossbar and just drag it around while on the sidestand.

It makes moving bikes around in small areas very, very easy.

Happy Trails mounts are spaced to allow fore and aft adjustment.

Anther gold nugget of info. gleaned from JVB: leave enough room for key clearance.

Lid fab begins after lunch...

AWWWWW YEAHHHHH BOYYYYYYYYYYY!

On my KLR bag lids like this, I also bent a reverse bend in this piece. The brake could do the short end easily, but not the long end - the apron felt like it wanted to spring, so I let off and finished the long ends by hammer forming on the vise.

This will get another flange welded to it for the "trap door" storage compartment. Still figuring things out as I go...

After a bad experience with a Ducati and a Triumph, I swore it was all Jap bikes from here on out, but...but...

Lids will hinge forward. Some would say that's a lot of work for a little storage compartment, and they would be right.

All teasing aside, Kirk - my GSA is the most comfortable adventure bike I've ridden - after changing out the seat for a Corbin. With the stock seat, I couldn't ride 20 miles without a sore butt. Add the Corbin, and I can ride 500 and still be ready for more. But you either have a Corbin butt, or you don't.

I almost didn't buy the GSA because of the "image". But after you've ridden one, you find out how amazing it is on back roads and wide open unimproved roads.

If you are going to ride tight two track or limited single track, the 950/990 is still my choice. But after riding my 950 all of 450 miles with a Renazco seat, I thought I was going to die.
