Great!

Thanks for the feedback.

Looks like I will have to get one when my new 690 comes in.

That sounds like a very good idea ! I sell more 690 Lynx's worldwide, than every other fairing put together !

Just a point about the latest 690 model ( including last years). KTM have decided to move the indicators off of the specific mount and back onto the OEM 'candle', which is a pain, because you need to remount the indicators when fitting a Lynx.

The easiest way to solve this is to order an indicator mounting bar from the earlier model ( also used by the 530 and 450 ) and move the indicators onto this. It's much better in any case to have the indicators mounted of the fairing, because you don't have to unplug them when you remove the fairing.

Cheers Ian

70k on mine the SE doesn't get babied, it has one small crack between the lights where I hit a tree. If I had any reason to buy another I would!

Thumb Outstanding Adventure Products....

Just found the thread and figured I should chime in here too... I've been using Ians Fairings for the last 62,000mi on my KLR.
First an XSTwin and then last Spring I switched over to some DRZ forks and a Lynx. Wanted to shed the weight of the fairings subframe and it's tendency to cracking, plus be able to point the headlight anywhere I turned the bars.
The wind protection and lighting (yes I ride at night) have been OUTSTANDING!!! The quality is second to none, and Ians service has been excellent at every turn.
Thanx for everything Ian and Cheers!

Mocking it up...

I carve and glue in pipe insulation to seal out any light that may escape and reflect back at me...

Had to make a spacer to lengthen the fairing, raising it off the fender due to the KLR head tube being longer than the DRZ's.
Though funny looking at first, this created a nice spot for the fender bag to tuck back under...

The girl all finished up with some HighwayDirtBikes bars, guards, and Vapor protector, DoubleTake Mirrors and of course The Lynx!

The best pics I could come up with (sorry) showing the rear of the fairing... it has a Montana, 12v outlet, Kissan volt/temp, heated grip controls etc.. really.

Howdy Jim, Told ya you would love the fork upgrade.
I hope you went with the better brakes too.

You going to Hells Canyon again this year?

Did that dog ever make it back home?

Everything Ian does is top shelf

I have thousands of miles on mine, one of my favorite mods to date.

Check the short ride report in my sig...

Thanks guys, the check is in the post !!

You might have figured out that there is a new Lynx now and one of the things I've got on the list is to create a 'proper' KLR version that would fit both older and newer models. Looking at your photos has just reinforced this. Perhaps fitting the larger Mirage 2 screen would be a good move as well.

Cheers Ian

sounds like what i need as I keep chopping on the 08 fairing

thats so I can get full lock with the hand guards

So its a good time for a KLR fairing for the 08's

Yes Ian I see the new version on the KTM's pictured... and I LIKE IT!
Can/will the new Lynx fairing mount up to my existing dash?
And the Larger Mirage.... +10 I would like to have a custom one done up 2" wider on each side and 1-1/2" higher across the top as well as 2-3" longer across the bottoms of the side (I'll call them) wings, that flare on the bottom corners.

Peace,
JJ

A few questions

I'm thinking of getting a Lynx for my DRZ 400, but I have a few questions:

Do the halogen lights come in a version for Oz where cars drive on the left?

How much brighter are the HID lights?

What model is the projector low beam light?

Would these new (ish) Hella Bi Halogen lights be an option:

http://www.myhellalights.com/index.p...adlamp-module/

The Bi-Halogen lights might be worth considering as both lights can stay on when on Hi and Low.

Thoughts?

Cheers,

Adrian
