DataDaddy did the Alcan 5000 on his KLR in 2006 (I think), he did a bunch of riding that summer and wrote a fantastic ride report. I thought he finished fairly well and also thought his report included links to other Alcan ride reports. His was one of the ride reports that sucked me into Adv back in the day.
For those that are looking for an ICO enduro computer, check out other small bike forums (KTMtalk for ex.). The ICO is used to run woods enduros by lots of guys and I have seen them used on the classifieds in the $100 range.
Good luck to to all the participants, I'll be reading your updates and all that stuff.

So not only is the ICO checkmate no longer in production, all they now sell is the rally VRL and its only available to "overseas customers". Any other suggestions?

ICO Rallye VRL Light - http://www.rallymanagementservices.c...allye-vr-light
Tripmaster XL - for those of us with aging eyes, or for good visibility at high speed
MX1West also sells the ICO VRL. http://www.mx1west.com/ico-racing-rallye-computer.aspx
Both are great companies, run by knowledgable people.
Used Checkmates also come up for sale fairly frequently on eBay now that most enduros don't require timekeeping.

On the list!
Well....it's official. Now I just have to break it to the wife
The route is going to be so much better than what we rode in 2010, hitting all the good stuff that was unavailable to us last time due to fires.
Really looking forward to the Cassiar, Canol and Top of the World.
We've got to watch out for Kathryn as she's a pro rally navigator and has the TSD thing wired.
Riding again with Pantah will certainly be a highlight.
Guess I better dig out the rally gear and try to remember how the damm computer works.

So for my budget, another $300 for an ICO is going to be rough....
Are there any other trips to the navigation and time I can practice with out the expensive equipment? I run a Vapor trail tech computer.
I even got bold and set up a Facebook page as I get ready
I know it's corny, but lets my boys feel like they are part of it, and pays homage to my dad who got me riding motorcycles. Don't laugh too hard when you look at it.
