Eh? Honda CL70 Engine swap

Ok, here we go again. A 1970 CL70 caught my eye on CL. Since it wasn't orginal paint or a concours restoration, it was an opportunity to try an engine swap and maybe some other mods, as I think of them. I usually restore to original, but this time, not so much.

I got a Lifan 125cc, and with a little careful filing of the mounts, it bolted right up. I have a 6v regulator, that steps the 12v engine down, so I can use the original wiring harness. I'm going to try and straighten it out some today. A Piranha pipe is on the way from Tbolt, and I'm looking for some better rear shocks.

The PO did a decent job on the paint, and I like the seat color.

The original engine, 4 down with a heel shifter. The Lifan is standard 1dn,3up.

2844 miles. I'll source a new speedometer, so I can start at zero, with the new engine.

The new engine bolted up.

Sweet.

Why not convert the bike to 12 volts? No need to change the harness, just lamps and maybe the flasher relay.

There is a CT90 I found today for sale, if this new job offer pans out I think I might grab it for 350$, can't really go wrong for 350$ even if the motor is doa it could still make a good mod bike or restoration. Of course, because I watch too much top gear, I am always thinking 90cc why not 250cc or 350cc or 650cc ah what the hell why not try to get a 1200cc motor in there, yeah, POWEEEER!!!
I call this suffering from Clarcksonitis, if you watch top gear you will understand.

Seriously though, I would like to find a rig like what Tony has here something old standard and unique.
