PHX - Sycamore Saturday 3/16/13

Plan is to ride single track trails at Sycamore riding area from Mesquite wash staging area.

Meet 3/16/2013 at 8:30 - Ride time is 9:00

This is not an easy single track ride, however, we will be targeting the easier single track trails in this area.

Single track riding experience required. There will be short, steep hills to negotiate. In general, the trails we'll be riding are not that rocky, but there area some rocky areas that need to be crossed. Ride length should be less than 30 miles.

I'm surprised there are no takers yet. It is still early with a ride planned out so far though. If you still don't have any victims riders as the date approaches, I have an idea for something less easy.

NS, sorry I won't be in town that weekend, but I'm passing thru middle of next week with Ms.Beta. Planning to ride singletrack on Wednesday. Just trying to figure out where.

Which trail area nearest to Chandler would you recommend to sample a day of fun singletrack; Wildcat, Sycamore, or ?

Thanks!

I don't think there are any trails near Chandler! :-)

Sycamore is probably a little bit closer than Wildcat. Wildcat would be much easier to navigate on your own. Just stay within the powerline, wash, Bartlett road, and the fence to the preserve and you'll be fine.

Your ride reports make both places look like FUN!

I am a willing victim if you think I can do it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I just do not want to hold everyone up. I think I will check this place out on Wednesday for a couple hours to see if it is doable by this old Wannabee. If not I will let you know.

I just rode sycamore on Saturday and there is a lot of water in the wash. Enough I even saw a Land Rover going under in one spot. We had to go pretty far west to find a spot shallow enough to get to the north side. Not sure where you would cross on the east end by mesquite wash Plan this week is to ride the cement wash area and see how much water there is.

I was out riding around in the area today, the water is starting to dry up and the dirt on the climbs is still tight from the rain. Saturday should be AWESOME!!! ( Although we never crossed the river, so what do I really know?)

Well, with 16 riders, I can't say there wasn't any carnage. I only wish I could have been there to the end to witness it all....
