Just sprung a leak from the high presure fitting holding the quik connect hose. Was able to patch it with teflon tape to ride home. This is 1 of 4 2005 2006 hp2 in cabo san lucas mine is the newest and the latest to crack. Teflon will not last as the gas eats it in a day. Anyone else been doused with gas at speed will make a permanent fix before buying new one / any idea what sealant will repel gas

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=711467 Take a few minuets and report the leak to the NHSTA. These failures are widespread and BMW should issue a recall. Here is a good thread that shows how you can fix it http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=852502

You need the replacement fuel cap which has the reinforced (steel) threaded fittings for the hoses. The original one was made by Continental, the replacement I believe is Siemens. The cracks radiate out and allow fuel to seep at best or squirt at worst. Had that happen on my Megamoto, was a warranty fix, but since it's a fuel system concern you may be in luck and get it with some creative negotiations.
