Great fabbing skills, but may i help you with your presentation? gonna anyway. threads read much better with a description BEFORE the pic instead of after.

Thanks, guys! More from today...
![]() All fabbed parts are disassembled, QCed and dropped off for powder. I held onto the R rack to make one last part. That part required some tabs welded to the hoop. ![]() .080" aluminum. ![]() This will be a tool box. Rear lid will hinge down. Protex over-center draw latch. Top box, tool box, and panniers are all KEYED ALIKE. I only had to buy $700 worth of hardware to make that happen. ![]() I TIG about 2" at a time so I don't warp the dog dookie out of things. ![]() Maybe it's just me, maybe it's the filler, the argon, or the combination of everything...but sometimes TIG welding smells like honey. No, really. Anyone else experience this? Probably just my imagination...![]() THIS is what's cool about TIG. This is an autogenous (no filler used) weld. When I cut out the end cap, there was about a 1/16" overhang on all sides. I'm using 1/16" filler. Perfect! The overhang became the filler. MIG could never do this, but then again, MIG can do things TIG can never do. ![]() The entire endcap was welded on without a single drop of filler. ![]() ![]() ![]() 18"L x 3 1/4"W x 5"H. ![]() Me likey! Top weld is also autogenous. I should have reduced my frequency a bit because my arc shape was wandering a bit from being too tight. ![]() One last hurdle to clear... Go-Pro mounts that will attach to the pannier bevels... ![]() All TIGged up and smoothed with the flap wheel. ![]() Now back to the coater again for the last couple pieces. Now the waiting begins, which is the sucky part. |

You should weld without filler more often.
![]() BTW I now know what to do with the old mounting tabls on my rack, since I now use the HT mounts. ![]() Jim
