CRF150F Restore
I purchased a 2003 Honda CRF150F for my son that, mechanically was in pretty good shape, but cosmetically, was poor. Because of the condition, I got a pretty good deal on it, giving me a little room to fix it up.
What was originally going to be a simple cleanup, and replacement a few parts here and there, has turned into something else altogether. One of the previous owners painted the bike a flat black, and did quite a poor job at it. Not being able to sleep at the thought of leaving it that way, I've decided to do a complete disassembly, soda blast, and repaint. Included in the project will be an oil change, fork oil change, new tires, plastics, muffler, fork boots, seat cover, clutch and brake handles, and a lot of new grease in the tree and axles. I'm starting to put it back together, so come along for the ride. It's gonna be awesome! Boozer007 screwed with this post 03-20-2013 at 09:42 PM |

Very nice, those are great little bikes, i learned how to ride on that bike, it took me up all the hills and trails around here, very good for a 150, just put a jet kit in it, and uncork the exhaust, put a uni air filter in there, it will make a great difference.
this was mine. ![]() Learned how to ride on it for a few months, and sold it for $300 dollars more then what i got it for

Yep, definately needs some work, but for $600 bucks, that is a deal and a half.

Your frame came out nice! Was that done in a blast cabinet? And how long did it take?
I've got a low-hours-but-cosmetically-weathered CRF150F myself, so watching with interest.....

Sodablaster works great for this kind of restore. I makes a hellofa mess but washes away with the rain.

I bought a $100 blaster at Harbor Freight, and a $40 bag of standard media. A cabinet would be great for the smaller stuff, especially for reuse of the media. More pics later as it goes back together. |

Soda Blaster
Here's a video of the blaster at work on the wheel. It left the finish intact. No need to repaint.

Almost Done
Still waiting for the new seat cover to arrive, along with a few more plastic pieces and a new muffler.
