So, things have all but come to a halt, death in the family, birthdays, busy as hell at work. Life is getting in the way of biking and building. Well the overtime has given e enough cash to really bear down on things. And I'veactually made some progress over the last coupe of evenning. I've got lots of picks of the subframe as requested, and a plan b if it proves to flex. The mounts are all done, Andingin the paint shop aka shedas we speak.

Should prove interesting, I'm probably going to go for a ride on sundayif I can get a coupe hours to work on it.

My beautiful wife is thinking of a name for the thing.

So, I as you may have noticed I stopped posting for a while. The truth of it is that LG and I have run over 5000 km on the rig. He has named it the motor muck, loves the thing. Every time I come home from work he is usually sitting there on my "Helmo" with his Helmo on his lap. He prefers gravel roads, hums into the scala over washboard, we had a 70 km conversation about the difference between a fan and a windmill near Dundalk Ontario stopped at a Tim's he felt the gust of wind and finished the lesson with big fan make big wind daddy. He really hates it when bugs hit his windshield, must be cleaned instantly. Baby wipes clean bugs off pretty well. You must establish a we have to stop and change a diaper signal with your friends before you leave. It's totally reasonable to stop for a nap under a tree. It's ok to scream "I'm the king of the castle" on every hill for four straight hours. You can eat Mac n cheese at a rest stop without lots of people judging you to much .

I've learned allot of cool things from LG, I'm going to compile a list one day. But I can say one thing, his first 5000 km have been the best 5000 km I've ever ridden.

We were calling it a "Side Bar" at our annual campout at the race track. He couldn't park it anywhere without people coming up to comment on it.

And I was having far too much fun learning how different it is to pilot a hack as compared to a two Wheeler.

LG is one lucky boy.

Not proud of it but yes, motor muck did carry coolers full of beer for 30 close friends at the mosport speedway. Yes it ferried beautiful women to the bathroom usuall 2 at a time. Yes the car seat was replaced by a more adult friendly one. Yes LG was angry that motor muck was dirty.

But daddy and mommy sure had a good time.

What kind of keener drives from PEI to Ontario for a weekend to watch some bike racing anyway.

So, great news everyone, I'm about to be a father again. It's a couple of weeks before we find out if it's a boy or girl so we've nicknamed he/she BEAN. Aply named by the last ultrasound tec, Jumping BEAN.

So long story short, the directory of manufacturing and the boss of all, have contracted me to construct motor muck 2. It has all the same requirements as the first but it will allow me to correct some mistakes I made in design and functionality.

So, I'm going to embark on another journey, I'm extending open invite to the rest of you. We've got two years to build something real sweet.

great story! you might think about a windshield loop/grab bar on the next build. something for LG to grab onto instead of the plexi and a help to entry and exit. guess I need to get busy on my own build so I can give my dad a ride this summer.

So. I've been thinking. And looking. And pondering. I'm wondering about not going through the hassle and expense of finding an old side car cutting it up and throwing away hunks of it just to end up with a fiberglass body that needs work.

I'm thinking just a bunch of bent pipe and full suspension of a KLR650.

I've read allot about the regulations in Ontario Canada for sidecars and talked to a cop friend of mine. My interpretation of side car capacity is this. If the manufacturer built it and registered it with the CSA and DOT for 2 seating positions that is the maximum allowable occupancy for the vehicle. Regardless of modifications. So in theory using a Hannigan double in Canada doesn't allow you to have 3 people in / on the bike because it was never registered for it.

I hope your wife enjoys our close to home never ending travel.

As a side note. New baby means that I've been forced to finish my basement. Concequently the fab shop has been moved to the paint shop. Weld shop stayed where it was and paint shop may go to a good friends.
