My old man lived there 14 years

I've been a few times.

Pom can be rough.

But I would love to live up there. My mum can get around pom without to many dramas so as long as you show it respect its fine

It's no wonder Aussie resorts and motels are always winging about people not holidaying locally. Am in the process of working out accom etc on Hamilton Island for a work related conference and the resorts have you over a barrel. Nearly $600 for breakfast alone for 7 days for 2 adults and 2 kids. that's just farkin breaky, hope someone is actually feeding it to me for that also, guessing it will be another $600-800 for basic lunches, and then that again for dinner each night, that's on top of just under $3k for accom and slug another $1200 for airfares, fark me.
My whole family went on a Sth Pacific cruise 4 years ago and inc everything we spent on board and on the islands etc was less than $3000. and we ate like kings morning noon and night.

Who's doing your bookings? Sounds like you re being charged rack rate to me unless you're going at peak time. Plenty of places to eat on Hamo without buying the meals package.

yer it now it up to 12 years old, it's a joke a 12 year old is classed as an adult for room rates, meals etc, yet their kids club goes up to 14 years old, just a big money grab.
as I've never been I have no idea about what food places are around but even at $30 ea for dinner which will be basic going by mainland prices, have a drink or 2 snacks here and there it's going to get scarey. The company we are going there for have gotten corp rates for room , but after looking around the corp rate is dearer than upgraded room rates inc breaky that are on the net.
We get no time away from work any other time of year so going to just have to suck it in and book and pay and enjoy.
This 1 is a ripper, it is $600 for a day trip to the reef, you get morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, $600 for the family then they ask you to bend over and get reamed if you want to add snorkeling to that trip, fuk me, do I have to pay to walk on the beach as well.

we're working on trying to see what packages we can get but only including breaky, no other meals but guaging by breakfast being $35 per adult, $17 per kid, dinner will be more no doubt and lunch well I guess it depends what we want.

1 thing though is there just your average cafe, takeaway stores on the island close to the resorts or is it only the various resorts to dine at.

There is a marina village a bit like Sanctuary Cove . Shops, minimart, restaurant etc.
Courtesy bus runs between the resort accom and the village .

Oh Lord, please forgive me for getting involved in such a trash thread, but I just had to.
The devil made me do it

The Bombers have just sent the Crows back to their huddle.
A 35 point beating at their home ground, how sweet it is.

And I don't even barrack for the bombers.
