The First Rule of Liberalism: Government Failure Always Justifies More Governemnt

Proof positive the Department of Education is failing and needs more funding, I take it.

Fixt!, really, more funding for a typo? Dept of Education is failing alright, throwing more money at it isn't likely to fix anything though, some student discipline & fire some adminstrators possibly, more money would just mean more waste. Like most departments (especially congress) there is no accountability, without accountability more money will only lead to more waste. Government is the only gig I know that gets paid better for incompetence than just doing the job, (not just a liberal thing here) but they are historically a bit better at the tax & spend drill.

I should have posted this a long time ago. This picture was taken, I think, in 2011. I took the HD mounting rack for a solo tour pack, and constructed an 22" by 30" platform of marine grade plywood. I then covered it with a rubber and carpet outdoor floor mat. There's an eyebolt at the very front center that I have a harness attached to. He can stand behind me, shift from side to side, but can not get off.

Tucker loved it back there, I could even leave him there in parking lots while I went into a shop and he never tried to get off. In fact, if you walked within about twenty feet of the bike, he'd bark at you.

Now, I have sold the bike, and I still have the rack and platform. I'm thinking of disassembling it and selling the rack.

Well, finally got pulled over with the mutt the other night, officer was pretty polite & I think by the time we were done talking acted like he would just leave it alone.

Initially claimed I could get a "big ticket" for that, I asked him which law I was breaking & he says it would be under blocked visibility?

I don't know if it would be legit or not but I may well find out as I plan to continue riding with Dawson, & just hope it doesn't lead to a fight, if it does I guess I will have to fight, or just keep paying tickets as they are written at least until I get outta the police state.

This is Ruthie our Aussie and her "Wags trailer" She's been about 25K miles around the western US in the trailer. We also have a Long hair Chihuahua who has been about 5K. I use a wireless temperature readout on my dash to keep an eye on the inside temps and just pick our direction every day based on ambiant temperatures. We do not travel with them in the middle of summer unless it's up to our mountain house 150 miles away and leave very early. Screened windows, fan, light and stop every hour for a walk.

How big is your dog?

[QUOTE=GSPeP;20822203]Not me, but someone I met on a meeting in Germany. Look what's sticking out of the tankbag ...

I have a Jack Russell who weighs 21 pounds. Would he fit into your tank carrier? If so, what brand is it, and would it work on an FXD Harley?

I am trying to work on a better method to carry him (some sort of top case) but the little carry bag seems to work well...

Niice! We've got the more nervous variety of Doxies...2 of them. No way for us, but looking good and what a studly little Doxie you've got there!

Ride on Spartacus!

I have long considered getting a small dog to ride with me on my bike.
I usually ride alone and it would be nice to have a 'friend' traveling with me.

I wonder if any of you have ever encountered any difficulties traveling with a canine companion or have any advice for someone starting out with a new canine?

This is still something I'm considering, but am looking forward to pursuing it more this riding season.

I've been carrying my dog, Pugsley, on bikes for six years. He was six month old when I started carrying him in a small tookbox strapped to the pillion of my Kawasake Concours. My advice would be to start them out real young, the younger the better. I believe that Pugsley loves to ride even more than me. He now rides on the pillion of my Gold Wing, harnessed and double strapped. 47,000 on bikes with him so far. I've not left home without him since he obtained ownership of me.

Well Dammit! More LEO trouble tonight over my riding partner. I don't know why I can ride through 5 states & Canada with no trouble but my local LEO's have an issue with this. This time the officer was not as nice as the last one, he says they have gotten calls about me & some people don't think it is safe. I am sorry but if some folks don't think it is safe then they shouldn't do it, gotta love CA, some folks don't have anything better to do I guess. Officer this time tried to tell me that if the dog falls of & is tied to me he will pull me over & cause a crash. When I tried to explain how many miles we had already done with no incidents & asked what law I was breaking he informed me that if I wanted to argue about it he would write me right now for unsafe speed, Really, 10-15 mph in old downtown?

Why do some people have to act like that? Who the hell are we hurting? If there is any addtional risk it would only apply to Dawson & I. I am baffled by this, already have an e-mail in to my traffic atty & a friend that works for the local TV station. I just can't figure out why riding to the dog park & then stopping by DQ to share burger & fries & then a cruise through town with my co-pilot should be of any concern to anyone else, but apparently it is.

I had really hoped this would just blow over but it doesn't appear to be. Very Anxious to hear what my traffic atty has to say about the whole thing, I just can't see what law we are breaking. Last I knew LEO's are supposed to enforce the law, not run around town stopping anything that someone calls in to tell them they think is unsafe.

What kind of person sees it as thier duty to impose how they think you should live on other people? If it doesn't affect you mind your own damn business. Nothing quite like trying to beat people down to lock step conformity just for the sake of doing it I guess.
