Cannot wait until it warms up a bit. I never winterized my DRZ 400 or my fiance's KLX 650, so there is going to be some work to be done. My 400 needs a carb rebuild because the FB is sticking and throwing fuel out. Plus it needs rear break pads. Hers....well it just hates the cold and needs the speedo cable replaced. All this and no garage.

We're both too heavy.
We both drink too much.
And we're next to impossible to get started in the morning.
I recently had the "opportunity" to ride a 2002 XR650 for three days (although at times it felt like three days of starting the beast) - man did I miss the KTM button. It gave me a new appreciation for the no stalls permitted, especially when you're riding a steep hill in a snotty rut or are on mucky soft stuff with no trees around to prop it against.

I will say that once she's running it has tons'o'torque and I think I can see why you Baja riders like them for the 100mph desert rides.

Oh yeah - the worst of the worst is when you get her running, get your heartbeat back in line, adjust your goggles and then grab the decomp. lever when you clutch to get her in gear! BTW - there's absolutely no reason why that stinkin' lever needs to be any longer than needed for one finger! I wish I could say I learned my lesson after the first time... Some of us need extra proof I guess.

Just back from Morroco.
We, rented a BMW in Spain, took the ferry to Tanger and worked our way south to the Desert.
I now wonder why I waited so long to go.

The rented F800GS

Having a beer after riding the new 1200GS

In Zagora, 52 days by camel to Timbuktu. This town is a desert outpost, you can get any vehicle repaired here.

All those infamous names from the Dakar Rally

Dunes of the Sahara

A verry cool day riding this track used in the 2004 Dakar

Flat number 2, a remote place in the Atlas mountains

A peiste in the Atlas

Some cool paved roads too.

I always have a good time riding with you, Don.

Whether we're taking a motorcycle apart in the middle of a tropical jungle;

Or fixing a shock out the back of an ambulance;

Or pre-running knee-deep silt beds on the Baja peninsula;

Or maybe crossing a river on a paper-mache barge;

There's always adventure !

Cross posting this in all the Michigan threads, hope that's alright.

Greetings Michigan ADV'ers.

I'm a few states over in Illinois where we have a fascist regime running the DMV. I may need some assistance from a Michigan resident. If anyone is interested, I'd be more than happy to compensate you for your time. PM me for details.
