Scott, is there a firm plan for the pre-ride ride? Anyone got room for +1 and a bike or if I drive I can take one person plus a bike in the Taco. I am cleared from Friday morning to Monday night.

Just canceled a work trip to AZ next week, providing I can finish a bid and a couple of other projects by Thursday, I'm good to go.

Brad - Great, I'll add you to the in-list.

A few of us are heading down this weekend to explore the southern part of this ride and camp. Can anyone recommend good camping accessible with trailers and decent access to Bobby's Hole and Elephant Hill? Is Elk Mountain Rd. a decent road? Can any locals comment on conditions? Tyko? Thanks.

I liked the needles district CG at CLNP, there's camping in and around the needles themseves (cool scenery), nice graded road going in and pit toilets, the camp sites are pretty spread out too. You'd be right there by the outpost for fuel ice etc... and Elephant hill is right there, bobby's hole is just south on the trail a ways. It is a NP though so the bike tag issues apply.

Thanks Chris!

Based on RF's recommendations I made some calls. Scott, the Needles Outpost private campground is full this weekend. CLNP campgrounds are first come first serve. I'll get into Moab late Wed evening and stay at a private full service campground. I'll get my camper situated and then Thursday head down to Needles. I'll see if I can score a campsite. They do have limits on vehicles & with my rig, they probably won't let me share. If they're available & you want me to get a site for you, just let me know.

Hhmmm...after checking some things out, it might just be easier to meet up in Moab Friday & caravan down...

No pre-ride. We decided we'll do the route sights-unseen. The way Chuck Norris would do it. Actually, we were too lazy to keep driving south. We ended up staying close to town and harassing the jeepers (didn't intend to but some seemed harassed).

The weather was perfect.
Here's plusone showing us how it's done.

PM me your email address and I'll send you the GPX.

Bummer. Would have been fun to see you all. Was this a big bike trip?

We should be able to give you accurate skinny the week before your ride.

Nope, little bikes. We had the truck camper and towed the little bikes.

FYI, after discussing with Scott, determined my support for this ride wasn't needed. This will be a true adventure ride! Have fun guys!
