Something for frozen Canadians to consider

I ride to Daytona every February for bike week. This year I decided to see if I could find a dual-sport ride to participate in while in Florida. I found this event in ADV Rider in the Florida region forum. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=861583
I'd definitely recommend it, it sure beats waiting around for the snow to melt.

This is what it looked like the morning I left

30 hours later

In the morning near the start of the rally it was cool and fresh and the bike was still pretty clean

Later it was hotter, drier and dirtier sometimes a little too hot

Sometimes it was a little too dirt y, I'd definitely recommend some of these for those planning to attend next year

It wasn't all dry though but you can see how still it was at this river crossing

It wasn't all dirt either but even the paved roads were very scenic in an old Florida kind of way

Speaking of old, this tree is over 900 years old which is about how I felt after wrestling a 600lb bike off-road for two days

Some of the roads were neither paved nor dirt, this photo shows the diversity from brick to dirt to pavement

As the sun sets on my adventure I resolve to return next year and bring some fellow Canadians who don't know what they're missing

That's an amazing & gutsy ride this time of year. Way to go!

I'll be going again next year although probably on a smaller bike, if anyone is interested in joining. I'll post something next winter to see if there are any takers.

Did you just trailer your bike down?

No I rode down and rode back. It's actually a lot easier than you'd think. I've developed a method over the years that minimizes the risk and the suffering. I'm actually thinking of writing a story for CMG online explaining how to do it. There is a whole community of nomad motorcyclists down there who ride down to escape the cold although most don't come from as far away.
