any advice for Costa Rica- Nicarague crossing

I'm planning a short trip up to Nicaragua in the next week or two and plan to cross at Penas Blancas. Any tips or advice would be great.
Thanks.

I've made that crossing on several occasions, but never on a bike. Are you going to be on your bike? That border crossing seems to be pretty straight forward. Can get backed up on holidays but most the time it's a breeze. If you make it to the beaches north of San Juan del Sur hit me up, I have a hotel on Playa Majagual.

I have no plans while up there. I just figured I would wander around a bit and see some sights. I definitely will be on a surf hunt while up there, so I very well might contact you. Is there a link to your hotel?

We were in Playa Majagual on Wednesday, Stayed at the Hotel Santa Fe and Club Playa. Which place is yours? We just might head back the same way in a few weeks

Playa Majagual, Nicaragua

You must be talking about Playa Majahual in El Salvador, my place is in Playa Majagual, Nicaragua. I'm on the coast just north of San Juan del Sur. I don't have a website yet but here is the Facebook page

www.facebook.com/castawaybeachfrontinn

Playa Majagual is pretty easy to find, just head to the beaches north of SJDS (marsella, maderas and majagual) and follow the signs to Majagual, when the road ends at the beach my place is on the left. There's a big blue and white sign that says CASTAWAY.

ok, i finally got my plate

and plan to head up to Nicaragua from Costa Rica to explore a bit.
If I have a copy (not the original) of my title, marchamo and rtv...will I be ok at the border crossing going both ways?

I like to keep the originals locked up and not with me or my bike.

I had a beautilfu, full size, full color copy of my title, and was denied crossing from Panama to Costa Rica at Paso Canoas. Another time I tried crossing into Nicaragua at Penas Blancas with the copy, was told to produce my original, which luckily I had with me.

Hi,
I crossed this border at least 6 times with a colour-copy of my title from my german registered car. My motorbikes here have nicaraguan registration.

With that colour copy I travelled years around and I made dozens of border crossings without any problems.

saludos Jürgen

Border Helper

Hey guys,

I'm helping build a resource for border crossings. The forum threads are great but it can be a challenge to organize all the information. It would be great if you could take 60 seconds and write up a brief note about your crossing. I know future travelers will thank you for it!

Salud!
