The only reason I went on the 'blinky retrieval ride' was because I knew my buddy was wanting me to help score the ride yesterday. If I'd taken the day easier, I do think I could've gone faster up the hills.

Maybe I'll talk Richard and/or Fred into showing me around down there sometime during the month. Since they keep gushing about the long route. I've never seen it.

I rode around in the flurries yesterday and had a good time, was wondering if I could ride to work today. I assumed it would be too icy, but better yet when I looked out the window it had snowed again overnight!

I'm still on my search for a CX/Road bike... I haven't found a bike yet that I feel comfortable on. I came close this past weekend on a 61cm Kona Jake. The shop let me put a few miles on it, and about halfway through my loop, my back started screaming at me... I was way to hunched over and had too much weight on my hands. The shop had already cut the fork, I think with a few spacers and a more upright position I would have felt better, but I digress.

With custom frames being out of the question budget wise, I'm looking at building up my old Rockhopper for around town instead. I'm thinking of getting a rigid fork for it, some skinnier tires, and maybe even going single speed. My living situation is changing soon to a more urban setting; and I don't feel comfortable with my Reign out of sight when around town...thinking the old rockhopper with some more road friendly components might be the ticket.

Thanks, I am heading back home in a couple of weeks and will have it figured out by then if I'm driving the big car back with room for my bikes.
My sinus infection is gone. I think at least I can breathe. I should only be a few emails away from knowing which end is up for summer.

I put the Zipp's from this on it

and have been using it as my skinny tire road bike also.

If I could sell that 56cm Scott above I'd probably buy this 54cm.

I had a Jake the Snake. Great little bike. I sold it when I left Sandy Eggo. Kept the Gunnar Crosshairs as my only cross/mtn bike till I got settled a bit more.

@Catfish: there's a Scandium VooDoo here on CL DC that may fit you. Not too much $.

@Moodfart: check velobuild.com too. Lots of options in chinese carbon for you to see if you can't find a size that'll work.

LA crit

Y'all might enjoy this. This rider is from FL and flew out to LA to do some riding. One of the guys took the rider to his Thursday night crit that's kind of a local thing.

From FB:
Here 's a video I took with my GoPro while riding the Los Angeles Thursday night crit a couple weeks ago. It was a cold & rainy night, so only about 40 riders showed up whereas usually there are 80+ including a lot of local Pros. There were a couple pros there that night, as well as many other excellent riders. What's interesting is bents are welcomed there- very nice folks!

In this one you ride for 50 minutes, then 5 more laps (there's a blinking light on top of a parked car that flashes when 50 minutes are up)
We need something like this in SW FL!

The video is pretty enjoyable. Two of the riders mentioned are Rahaan Bahati and another is Justin Williams.

The thing about SoCal is its easy to stay in pretty darn good shape year round. There's really no such thing as 'winter' so there's really no such thing as an 'off-season.' AMHIK

Its varying states of 'fast' or 'faster.'
