Your very fortunate to start with a clean, well taken care of bike. Hard to tell from the video, but the can seems pretty quite...which is not a bad thing.

Cheers,

Tom.

Matified an updated mx fender

I purchased a few updated Maier MX style rear fenders to put on the KLXs,, the fender as delivered were for a 300, I ended up cutting two inches off the rear of the subframe and then made a few cuts to the front of the fender to move it forward a little bit, about an inch, this brings the part of the fender designed for the rear of the 300 seat closer to the rear of the 650 seat, not sure but I suspect the 300 seat is just a little longer at the rear. If I bolt the fender on and use the standard holes there is a gap between the seat and fender that puts it too far back and pointed to high. Just plain looks weird.
Here are a few pictures of the 93 and 96 to compare, I also did the conversion to the 96 shortly after. I think it look pretty good and adds a better tail light.

KLX Rack on a KDX?

I have a 2003 KDX that needs a tail rack. I was told that the KLX650 rack can fit the KDX based on having similar frames. Is this true?

The rack from a C-model is what might work. I just looked at a 03' kdx200 frame on flea-bay and the rear cross brace is not threaded. The rack on my 94' C threads into the cross brace and two threaded tabs forward on the frame.
Hope this helps.
Cheer's,
Tom.

My bike fired into life today no probs. Bit slow winding over with no KACR and high compression.

Sounds cranky.

I have a hole in my Acerbis tank. I did the dual sport ride at the Desert 100 in Odessa, WA last weekend and near the end of the ride I noticed a smell of gas. After looking around a bit, I found there is a tiny tear in the tank where the left side wing meets up with the larger main part of the tank. Bummer! It looks like it was caused by the tank flexing over time.

Here are some pictures.
