Umm if you go from normal forks to good upside down forks you can loose some weight there...

Cheapest place to loose weight is on tubes and tyres .. go small and light there is cost effective. Of course the tryes may not last as long nor be as grippy...

------------- As others have said .. most cost effective is to buy a light bike to start with.
