I have seen two other BRZs in town, the rest are FRS/s.

The marketing plan was 3 FRS to every BRZ, so including mine, thats about right!

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but the oil filter is on top of the motor, facing down. The motor also has a cast flange around it, so when you drain the oil, there would be very little left in the filter, but removing it would not cause oil to leak all over the place. Smart.

Yep I've seen plenty of underhood photos. Looks like one of the roomiest engine bays on sale in a modern car in a long time. Looks like maintenance should be really easy. I like how the alternator is right up on top which will keep it clean and make it last a lot longer.

On the second note, I guess I have a while to break it in.
Don't call. They will call you. Tell them no. They'll call back. Tell them no and then they'll offer the six months for 25.00

I love the look of them - but why no turbo, Subaru?! I love my 2005 Legacy GT.

I had a kid in one line up next to me at a light in a BRZ a few weeks back doing the revving/rocking thing... I smoked him to 65 and let off, he did the usual flyby without making eye contact.. haha.. They are nice lookin though.

If there were some curves in the road, the outcome might have been very different.

I personally think a turbo would ruin the car. There is such a wonderful balance between steering wheel effort and horsepower, i dunno, more might not be better. And i have not yet fully exploited what the car has yet

You don't even have to play that game. Just call them up and tell them your girlfriend got 6 months for 25 bucks and you want the same deal. They might push back a bit at first, but they'll cave in

I'm sure it would of, I'm driving a family sedan ;) I dunno, I like speed.. Handling is a close second, but acceleration always wins in my book.. And come on, a turbo would ruin it?! You're just talking hogwash now. hahhaa ... Yeah, 75 more HP would really suck!!!! I've never once been in any of my turbo cars and thought to myself "Damn.. I really wish this car didn't have a turbo.".

Granted, I have limited wheel time with turbo cars, but when i felt that when driving fast around a bend, if the turbo spooled up, it seemed to upset my line in the corner. Most recently felt this in a Mini Cooper S. I felt I could drive around it, but when I drove the standard Cooper afterwards, I liked it better.

So, maybe a little more ponies for you, but of the naturally aspirated variety. BTW, word has it that the STI BRZ will have 35 more horses, and this will be from tweaks, not turbos

I like that idea even better. Do I really have to have a girlfriend or will they accept a life-size blow up doll?

Ever since I heard of the car I've wanted one. Hopefully sometime in the not so distant future I will have one. An FR-S that is, considering I work for a Toyota dealership

It all depends on your perspective. The best I could ever get a Cooper S to do mid corner was spin the inside wheel. There was no line upset, only disappointment with the handling behavior of front wheel drive.

I have a boosted (supercharged) 600 + hp car. It can be a bit of a handful to modulate throttle mid corner, but like anything else it just takes some practice. I can also induce throttle oversteer at will, which is always fun

Looks like something is in the works.

Turbo Diesel and AWD!

http://media.subaru.com/newsrelease.do?id=432&mid=1

Apparently fed up with critics who say that the Subaru BRZ isn't getting the job done for enthusiasts on its own merits, the folks at Fuji Heavy will announce on Monday, April 1 that the next Subaru BRZ will have an all-wheel-drive turbo diesel convertible version in 2015.

There have been a ton of rumors about the next BRZ, so Subaru decided to just confirm all of them. Here's what they say about the car in a press release that came out a few days early:

A spokesman for the company said: “Having just launched the current model to widespread critical acclaim, we are tired of fighting off the constant speculation about what’s “next” and so we are just giving in and delivering all the speculation in one vehicle.”

The new model, which is expected to have a starting price, will however NOT come with a much anticipated rear back-up camera. The spokesman confirmed that after shoehorning two convertible switches (up and down) onto the fascia there just wasn’t room for any more instruments. The AWD Turbo Convertible two-seater Diesel Hybrid BRZ will come in a single color, noseeum black and will be hand produced at Subaru’s Brigadoon facility.

What more could you want in a pure sports car than all of those things? We can't wait to drive this bad boy, which is almost certainly legit and not a joke.
