Air snorkel is clear...

Problem solved!

Observations:
1. By twisting the throttle all the way while cranking, the bike sounded like it would start. Then, it started up.
2. There is an exhaust leak where the pipes meet immediately after the exhaust flap.
3. Let it idle for a few minutes, took it for a ride around the block, shut it down and it started right back up.

Hypothesis:
Fuel system blocked from sitting.

Anomalies:
Spraying starting fluid into the fuel injector ports did not cause the bike to start and caused me to discount the fuel system hypothesis; this could be from a failure in my method. Therefor, the hypothesis was derived from observations - FU NIH and your hypothesis driven research!

Conclusions:
The motorcycle runs and likely did not start due to a fuel system blockage - before storing it next time, run a tank of gas with SeaFoam before storing it for the winter. Tests could not confirm where in the system it was blocked. The exhaust leak needs to be fixed at some point, but is likely independent of the starting issue.

I should have been more specific. The mice use the air snorkel as an entry point to the airbox and filter area to build their nest.

The snorkel can be clear, but you may have tenants in the box

How about the OP egwags...how`d you make out?

Im glad you got it sorted. I put seafoam in the tank for my last couple of rides before storing. I also start the bike and let it run for a bit at least once every 4 weeks during the winter.
