paperwork to sell a bike in germany

Hi. I'm riding my motorcycle from Lisbon to Berlin this summer, and then was hoping to sell it in Berlin.

I feel like I ought to look into the paperwork for this. Has anyone sold a foreign-registered bike in Germany? Right now the bike is registered in Portugal. I heard that the fee to transfer (is this called matriculation?) can be outrageous in some countries...

Thanks for any tips,

Luke

Hello Luke,

I'm currently in the process of selling my bike (registered in Belgium) to a German. When the deal is done, I will ask him if there are any fee. But my first tought is : it should be free, as in "free trade between the different members of the Schengen Agreement area".
The things might be different for motorized engines.
