Yea, I think that one had a bad Stator. A new one cost more than the
bike was worth.
Happy April 1st.

Forks are going off for a rebuild. I just hope mine doesn't end up as a sign post.

Okay, as Im in the same place as Huzband right now, the only difference is Im being too cheap to send those forks in.
So could anybody please give me a hint or two on how to get those forks apart?

They both come apart the same as most. Just remove the large allen bolt at the bottom of the forks with a impact. The right fork should be the one without the spring. It needs the cap removed off the internal rod. There is a lock nut then just screw it off.
I`ll be gone riding this weekend, but I`ll be back monday. Somewhere I probably have all the specs!
Have fun.

I have two sets of forks. One set is collapsed, the other not. There's a sizable nick in the chrome on the set that's not collapsed, so I think I'll send both & ask him to make a good set from them.

It's looking like the second bike will turn into a parts bike.

Question 94 Aprilia 280R value?

Have a friend thinking about getting a trials bike and I have roomer of a 94 Aprilia 280R in good shap that might come up for sail. Thoughts on price rang?

And yes I know condition is everything. However if the roomer is true and the bike is in the 7 out of 10 range as it sounds, thoughts? Here is for hope it might come true for my buddy.

Thanks in advance.

I'd say a grand, give or take depending on condition. I gave six hundred for mine, & it came with a mostly complete parts bike.

I`d say 750 at the most in great shape. The `94 was the last year. That means out of production for 20 years and the watercooled ones were `89-94. Even if it looks and runs good, pull the stator cover off and check the mains and the magnets in the flywheel. This is a reverse design, the stator is in the cover. Just 3 or 4 allens to remove, 1 minute job. Grab the flywheel for movement. Check the stator coils for wear(rubbing). If the mains are loose it will ruin the stator and knock off the magnets 0n the flywheel.

The more I think about it, I'm going to go ahead & have the rear shock rebuilt with the forks. I mean, why not? I have three of them, all leaking, so may as well have good suspenders at both ends.
