A pre run two weeks prior could work but if it's the weekend before I'll be on the trip already. You know, I had nothing to do this winter. Now it's a log jam of activities competing for the same dates.

In the mod phase...

Bike is coming along. I'm leaning toward a naked chopper restyle of late.

I find that strangely erotic and disturbing all at the same time. Kinda like dancing with your cousin.

Well, if you're lowering it, cruiser like, I'd suggest redoing the fuel tank. A small metal one would be a great look, and then you could do a minimal seat too. I can certainly see a dualsport cruiser in the making here. Forward controls?

Seriously, I've been considering doing a tank conversion like this one (without the fancy cameras) so I can run my 990 naked. like this bike. The small custom tank with a fuel pump is the hard part.

I'd like to take it a step further with clip on forward controls an 17 wheels. But, making it original would be a simple matter of bolt ons. No frame modifications.

Maybe a Hwy bar for some leg stretching, otherwise the pegs work well in stock position for standing.
Small metal tank is easy with the stocker. lol.
This sprung leather Brookes saddle should suffice for cruising.

Yeah on the naked 990. Trellis frames are nice to look at. I hear the LC8 is a thirsty one too on fuel... bit of a tank design challenge there.

Linky to pre-runs

Is here:

http://www.trimbleoutdoors.com/ViewT...1-77bc2e39823c

There's one segment that AtlasEXP thought we should name "No Experience Necessary." It's a combination of an old logging road with deep (as in 20 feet deep) wash-outs which eventually ends up in a clearing with no apparent place to go. The route actually goes through a tough thicket of raspberry canes and into the woods, following a much older logging road (from the early part of the 20th century, if not before.) One of the big challenges is riding up from a couple of water crossings over slippery log bridge abutments where the bridges are long vanished. It drops out onto an ancient railroad bed where the trains stopped running on the 1940's. Very cool.

Here's the old railroad bed. We're on the wrong side of the deep, rocky Moose River at this point. How will it turn out? Tune in next week. Same Bat time, same Bat channel.

In the notes of the prerun gpx it says this:

Average Speed: 138.0 mph - 0:00:26/mi.

The tires on my 250 aren't rated for that.

Can we keep it under 100?

I'm geared a little low for that. Might have to change back to stock setup.

Was out riding on the KLR today for a little over 65 miles. Many of the woods roads are still not passable, but much of the local gravel is in fairly good condition, if anyone wants to buzz around this weekend. It's been dry, and the town roads can be done at about 45-50 mph, even if one is slightly shaky and out of form, as I was today. I don't know how much actual pre-running will happen, as the really tasty stuff still has snow on it, but spring is here and it feels magnificent to get out and moving.

The usual thing will be offered -- the back cabin, as much fire wood as can be scraped up, and as good a feed as can be assembled on short notice.
