84 XT 600 Wheels

Anyone have an suggestions? My ex that I ride with rides a crotch rocket and loves to go on long rode rides. My bike, as is, has off road knobbies which I love. Problem is I want something more for street when I go riding with her. Really leaning on pavement with knobbies scares me but I love the off road tire for off road. I was thinking about trying to find another set of rims and putting more street oriented tires on them and just swapping out the whole wheel/tires when I'm going street riding. Does anyone do this? I rather not spend the money to have a shop mount and balance my tires every time i'm going off road or street riding. Thanks

I have 2 sets of wheels for my xt600e, and love the versatility.

One set with knobbies, and another set that does a littl with of both, currently i have Heidenau k60 on the roadtires, and like them very much, they do gravel and dry dirt fine aswell.

Thanks for the reply! Do you have any recommendations on rims and where to get them? I don't need anything fancy, want to stay as cheap as possible.

Thumb XT 600 Wheels?

Hi, You can get a XT550 rear wheel or a XT 600 for the rear. E-bay has them on there, all the time. Low prices too. For the front you can get a XT600 front wheel 84-89 model. And most wheels by now have a little rust right in the middle of the rim.
Comes from riding alot in streams and ponds. Replacement rims cost about $100 to 200 per rim. So good luck!! BIG ED XT&TT 600 Fan!!!
