If you read the press releases (excuse-o-rama to the cynical):

Spies' back up bike didn't have the same rear setup as his preferred bike and he couldn't do the same lap times with it. He takes the blame for getting into T2 too hot and crashing.

Rossi blames traffic for not being able to set a good qualifying time. Says he has the race pace, though.

Marky and Pedro say they are happy and don't mention their incident.

Nicky blames bad timing and getting caught up in traffic on his fast lap. He gives Dovi props and says he will be checking his data.

AI29 says he was out of soft tires and will push for a top 10 in the race.

Should be an interesting race.

Lorenzo
Pedro

Cal

How long is his contract with Ducati? He got out qualified by a CRT. This is looking eerily familiar.

Dovi

Crutch bins it on lap 11

Well, it appears Lorenzo still rates Spies.

crash.net quoted Lorenzo thus this week:

"In theory for me it is the same, because I understand that Ben Spies is a great rider. Just he didn't feel great last season, but I believe he is one of the fastest riders in MotoGP."

Apparently Pedrosa had said that having Marquez alongside him in the same team was no big deal as he had always had tough team-mates, to which Lorenzo appended the quote above. Not quite clear where they were at the time - perhaps a media session at Qatar.

Lorenzo
Rossi
Pedrosa
Marquez (either 4th or the gravel trap)
Dovi (after running in 3rd most of the race)

Looked like the smoke was trying to get out of Dovi's bike.

JLo makes new helmet sponsor HJC look poor with visor failure at pit out.

Speaking of excuse-a-rama.......
The track is ~3.4 MILES around. There's 12 bikes out there.
Each bike could have more than a quarter mile all to themselves if evenly spaced.

It's only MHO, but any rider who has issues with traffic has only themselves to blame.

Absolutely. Anyone who goes on about wanting close racing that doesn't watch this Moto 3 race can go to their room and suck their thumb. It was all knees and elbows and fairings and tires for several laps and right up to the finish line.

Lordy, I sweated bricks for Redding.

I don't know how he can do anymore to overcome his large frame, racing-wise.

I was bouncing off the couch for that one
