Hey, that's my daily commute! If you have to commute there are worse routes to take, I'm sure.

FS17 off South Skagit Highway from last Saturday's beautiful weather... Wish I brought a camera and not just a cell phone with me.

I was going to try to hit this road within the next few weeks, probably on the Strom. How was it? Hit any snow?

I'm not too familiar with the area and think I only went up around half way. For the bit that I did see, it was clear with the higher up areas being a bit softer and slicker... No snow visible at the midway level and I had a lot of fun kicking out the back end in the slippery stuff. Definitely somewhere I will revisit as soon as I get my piggy back together from some carb cleaning, let me know if you'd like some company when you go!

Rode up river outside Estacada into the mountains over Easter weekend. Snow started at just over 3,000 ft.

Sorry about the cell phone pictures.

How do you like the new 250L? How is it on the highway? Power?

It's a fun little bike. I came off an FZ1 so obviously there is a big difference in power (130 vs 18). It's not as smooth and stable on the freeway as a larger bike (knobby tires don't help) but it will cruse along at 55-65mph without tiring you out. I probably would not ride it to Seattle though without street tires and a windscreen. And you will not be passing a lot of cars on the freeway.

Where it shines is in town, on country roads, on twisty roads (light, easy to flick around), and off-road. Power is fine in those situations. Some say it's geared to high off road but I have not had any issues so far on the forest roads and 2-track trails.

Gas mileage is great. On that ride I was out 1/2 the day, it cost me less than $4.00, and I was not easy on the throttle.

Cool. My XR650L is decent on the highway but a pig off-road. Looking at that 250 lately and liking what I see except that it only weighs 50 pounds less than the XR650L and half the HP.
