thats something no worries

do you remeber the size of the internal pipe?

the more I think about the more it seems that internally the pipe is no bigger than 1.5mm

THATS where the pressure is caused on startup

thick oil will not flow thorugh it

I tested this while off I couldnt even get it to move yet somehow while the engine gets hot and the oil thins you start to get flow

do you remember any of this klaus?

thanks

Nice pics there, looks like some great places to ride! Is it like here (or Queensland anyway) that you're meant to have a registered bike to ride the national parks since it's technically a 'public road'?

Also to the various suggestions about the mark in my XR's head. It can't be the choke plate because I took it out and replaced it with the billet version only a couple of months ago, and the stock plate was still completely intact. Could've been dirt as someone mentioned...or maybe parts of the piston when the 630cc kit detonated in the past?

Shouldn't matter too much though right? Might be odd heat build-up or something but I guess as soon as it's carbon up it won't matter anyway.

Next questions:

1) Loctite...what do you loctite in an engine...and which type? Ie, Red loctite (223 or whatever it is) on certain nuts etc? I looked through Steve's build but didn't notice any so matter it isn't done at all? I've just been caught offgaurd by the vibrations from this big thumper and watched as 4 or 5 external bolts came loose and disappeared into the bush.

Don't want that happening inside my new motor!

2) Does anyone have photos of a ventura rack mount? I cannot for the life of my figure out where the L brackets bolt to??? XR650L should work the same too, if you have a pic of that?

Cheers,

John

Make sure you can blow thru it at least . It's real easy to solder a small tube like that closed.

Hi John
a lot of the riding to the tracks were via metal public roads so we where all plated, the 42nd traverse area is 4x4, quad, mountain bike areas so anything goes, come winter where going to trailer there in full offroad get up for a weekend of trail bash heaven.

i got a ventura mount on mine but mine was welded on, you can just see it next to my tool holder in the photo

The minimum Temperature for my Engine is in the workshop with the Aircon full running at 22 degree

No problems with the Oilflow as long as the Pump is not dry .
Air in the pump however cause a delay up to 95 second on my Pump tests bevor the Oil flow .
And thats not kickstart time thats a spinning oilpump at idle speed submerged in 20W50 at 22 degree .

The Pipe is intern 2,5 mm if i remember correct

Don't jump the gun just yet. I have that trans in my $200.00 XRL motor that I haven't opened up yet. It may be good. Well except for the counter shaft.
