Thanks for sharing the video, nice little reminder just what is available in the neighborhood.

Watched it just now after returning from lunch in Chetwynd today, with fellow riders, mostly discussing options for riding areas to explore. I'm planning for my holiday time, July 19 to 30/31, and looking for a route for multi days exploring northern BC.

Cheers

Muskwa Ketchkia, its nice. I did field work there in Oct 2004. The glacial lakes are Redfern Lake (to the right) and Fairy Lake (to the left). We landed on the mountain in between.

Sorry, I'm not interested in random testing. Thinking Ben might have some inquiries about the geology he visited on his adventure and I have done field work there.

Excellent. I'll be landing about 50 miles NE this summer.

That is correct. Now to get some time for this RR... Was going to work on it last night, but went winter camping (in the spring) with my son. -19 with the wind chill...

A proper marshmallow fire will have next to no smoke.

What an Awesome dad! This little guy will be able to go all Rambo on any invaders of our great white north if he ever needs to. Either that or he will at least be able to pass on the legacy of simple basic family connection.
good on you!

In case anyone's REALLY bored... I took a video for the other kids (and uploaded it for a chance to win $50.) The kids love to tag along when dad goes outside, and see pics/video when they can't come. That's the main reason I take so many.

When I see these photos and read about guys going there for work reasons I sometimes wish I was a Geologist and not a bean counter. The scenery is magnificent. Can only imagine how great it is in real life.

Question So where were we?

We were here.

Quote:

But, at last, I arrived at my destination. Only been riding maybe 36 hours on 45 minutes of sleep
It had been quite the ride, and I was ready for a nap.

At last my destination was in view.

Pretty much as far away from pavement as you can get in BC.

And I was also far away from my the camp. In the distance, I could see the base camp for Claw Mountain Outfitters but I couldn't see how to get there. It was 10 or 11 at night and no one seemed to be around, but I ventured a honk or two on bike's (annoyingly effeminate) horn. That resulted in a body stirring across the lake. It was Markus Blum. He's a fascinating and genuine guy. More about him and his wife at his website.

Or check this out:

Eventually, I got on the right side of the lake and into camp.

Markus said Rick (the outfitter) was already sleeping, but he invited me to stay the night on his behalf. I told him I'd be happy in my tent, but Markus insisted I stay in the guest lodge. I didn't argue.
