Battery Location is a Pain!

So I uninstalled my heated vest and heated grips from my old bike. Just unbolt them from the battery terminals.
Now I'm ready to install them on my new (to me) 990 and the battery is waaay down south! I could run the wires down along side the engine, but I'm afraid the heat might melt them.

What to do now? I'm not good at electrics so I'm a bit uncomfortable about splicing wires.

Help, its gonna be a cold ride without them!

You've got switched and unswitched accessory power behind the dash ready to ago. Also I've ran my heated gear lead from the battery box, snaked up between the radiator and engine and zip tied to the top of the steering stem for the last 7,000 miles or so with no problems.

The battery location is a bit unconvential on our bikes to be sure!

The accessory (ACC1 & ACC2) are very small wires (~18ga) and should be used for powering GPS, USB 12v supplies, etc.

It's best to run your wires down to the battery itself, and while there to protect your main relay & fuse block on the right side of the bike from corrosion.

Read through the HOW (since this bike is new to you) about some of the pecular problems encountered by other OC Inmates over the years.

I ran a heavy set of wires to the battery to inside the glove box. Have a fuse velcroed on the bottom of the lid and a cigar plug in there for heated stuff, cell phones, etc...
