My Savage 400 was like that.
Fill it up with petrol whilst on the side stand and when you straightened the bike up, it ran out the cap and onto your leg...

And to think it all started off during the war. Note: bad guys are on BMW's Good guy in on a Triumph from the future.

Cool looking bike there maxaccel. I take it it is the steve mcqueen special looking at the p[aint job. What havwe you done to customise it?
Not the McQueen model Padmei, the matte khaki has been out for a few years now (mines a '10). And yes, mine is better than the McQueen model.
Shocks, pipe, seat, bars etc, the usual stuff for farks.

Wonky tank? Naw, just the standard hump back efi tank and my bitchen badass brasscap (to match my balls).
I moved the cap to the side so fuel would run down my leg.
NCW is for North Central Washington, USA.
Cheers my fellow NZ'ers.

They are a good solid reliable old bus

Nice bike Maxaccel. How much extra is one looking at for pipes, seat etc - be the best part of 30% of the purchase price?

For the record , I do have pics of Steve on the wall, I may or may not have a tattoo, you will never know.

This guy does cool stuff www.atombombcustom.com

I've mildly farkled the Scram with a view to being able to return it to std if I wanted to sell. It's a keeper so I think I will do a bit more to it, some of the stuff the dago guys on the Scrambler thread have done is quite cool.

They do seem to hold their resale , surprising , when Triboy & I bought they could not give them away.

Edited thoughts
Motor is nice, smooth, heavy , overweight, over engineered , under stressed & super reliable.
They are fat & have short legs, but are surprisingly light on their feet.
They need suspension work
It will tour but not at speed, needs a small screen , they get tiring after a day
It will do gravel / off road , the rougher it gets the slower you go
It will scratch, not in a huge acceleration or braking style, minimise those & maximise corner speed , lots of fun
It has old school cool looks , get used to being hit on by nannas.
It will commute well, rh leg can get hot at the lights , Oh thats right, there are no lights in Nelson
It is reliable, only probs are likely to be electrical. Just as well, TNZ taught Dick Turpin, Robin Hood & Ned Kelly everything they knew, It's not that bad really

I like the back to basics stuff , it suits me.
I'd also like a DR 650 or similar for adventure work

I'm about to bugger off outside now, you are holding me up .I'm way too polite to ignore you. Rocker boxes on ,clearances set , carbs & exhaust on. Oil lines next then electrical stuff. Getting there.
