I have nothing but praises for KTMtwins abou the way they have responded to me inspire of me being halfway across the world and the time differences. When I once had an issue, I PM'd Don and the matter was resolved Immediately. Now that's service that shouldn't go unappreciated.

They will surely get my business again.

This was never going to end well.
So with 2800 posts under his belt, he would have been better equipped to handle the disappointment of not getting his stuff on time I'm pretty sure maybe I would have been pissed too but maybe handled it differently. I own a retail store and I buy at retail stores; this is one thing I've learned: when money gets plunked down, the relationship changes. Your friend a minute ago is now your customer and wants the most for his money. You accepted his money so now you're obligated to provide the goods/service. And if your customer feels shortchanged, you put your big-boy pants on and make it right or give him his money back with apologies. I expect no less when I plunk my money down. I'm pretty sure the guys KTMtwins recognize something went wrong with this order and are making sure it doesn't happen again. And based on the response in this thread, their fan club will continue to grow.

Couldn't agree more. I see it happen a lot here when someone has a problem with a vendor who happens to be a fellow inmate (who's usually made contributions to the forum). Many here seem to believe in such a case there should be a defacto lowering of expectations. I find it a bit baffling.

I am not saying that 2800 posts would have made him better equipped, but I bet he would have taken a different approach. Brit, is this how YOU would have gone about it or with the wisdom or your posts and experience would you have handled it differently?

And Maoule, do you deny that the flaming of an ADV vendor is taken differently when it is by a new member to the forum? Or perhaps you a too new to know this yet.

That's all I'm saying. I have no relationship with KTMTwins other than having made some purchases, but I've been around here long enough to know that a phone call to Ron would have gotten everything handled well and quickly. Without flaming. No lowering of expectations at all, but maybe a raising of the time/tolerence level.

I already answered that. I wouldn't have posted, at least not until I'd tried to resolve it with the company but we are all different.

This said, I'm not understanding the relationship you believe exists between post count and decision making. If you've posted 10,000 times in the Basement, does that mean you've learned something profound about how to address issues like this

A higher post count suggests, but does not guarantee, more experience reading the forums.

That familiarity will demonstrate this type of post- a angry flame, posted in hostility and haste, that is regretted on reflection and with the pressure brought on by those fellow inmates who've had overwhelmingly positive experiences with the vendor in question.

To add to the public humiliation, the angry flame posted in anger and haste is met with a respectable vendor who extends good will and sincerity in their regret for their mistake.

It happens often, and often happens to posters not familiar with the process.

I suspect underlying personality will always trump post count.

I expect the OP has learnt something here. Perhaps others reading too. This said, I'm failing to see the public humiliation portion. Oh well.

Also part of the problem may be with understanding the email you receive when a part isn't in stock.

I just ordered a damper that's not in stock and the email sent says
"ETA of 3-7 business days"

When I read ETA I understand that the E stands for Estimated.
1. To calculate approximately (the amount, extent, magnitude, position, duration or value of something).

Not that the longest I'll have to wait is 7 days for it to arrive, LOL.

I think our OP manned up here. He's had his original title reworded, and seems to be working on the issues. We should give him some major credit.

I hope he has a good trip.

What I am saying, from my experience, ADVRider post count notwithstanding, is different people value their hard earned money differently and expectations when a "contract" is entered into are going differ as well.
