Have any of you Sequoia locals been up into the Puites this season? Curious if it's ridable yet.
Any report would be great.

Hey Louis,
Last Friday the Grinch and Catfish rode across the Piutes from Keysville to Landers, should be ready to ride. The Stewards have been working on clearing the trails of downed trees too.

I forgot to mention that on the way home Sunday I came across a small plane parked on the side of the road just North of Slash-X Cafe. Was an odd site seeing a plane and it's occupants just sitting on the shoulder like that. Read the rest of the story I found online:

Plane lands safely on Highway 247 near Barstow

A small, single engine plane landed on State Route 247 just outside Barstow Sunday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Pilot Joseph Latourelle of Glendora and two passengers, Karen and Katie Homan of Covina, were flying from Las Vegas to La Verne's Brackett Field Sunday morning when the aircraft began to experience engine failure and loss of altitude, Cutting said.

Latourelle put out a mayday call and was looking for a place to land when he spotted the highway, which had no vehicles on it at the time.

By then the plane had "a complete power failure and the engine shut down," Cutting said, adding Latourelle "basically glided into SR 247."

The road was blocked momentarily until responding CHP officers and San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies assisted in moving the aircraft onto the highway's shoulder, he said.

A mechanic was called to the scene who repaired the plane after it was moved completely off the highway. However, once the aircraft was fixed high winds kept it on the ground.

The plane taxied down the highway about a mile to the nearby Slash-X cafe, Cutting said. While the plane moved down the road someone walked next along the side of the plane holding a rope that was tied to one of its wings in order to keep it from overturning in the wind.

By about 6 p.m. the plane was able to take off from an empty field located behind the cafe.

"It safely landed and it safely departed," Cutting said.

What are you talkin about Scott? Jimmy Lewis raced the XR600 in the Baja 1000 and won! The XR is NOT a street bike....Old school? Yes.

Only open to dues paying Stewards...
Most of the gates are still locked, Landers gate was opened Saturday
We cleared a few trails (300+ trees) but every wind storm will bring down more trees....carry a saw.
