Just ridden the 1190ADV

Took the big 1190 out last sunday for a blast. I was warned to take it easy because the bike had only done 380 miles and nobody except ktm staff has been allowed to ride it - till now!!
I've read all the magazine blurb and was expecting a mind blowing all round ride, but I was a little confused. The bike is very VERY quick, pulls very well from low down and the brakes are amazing. The thing that spoiled it for me was the suspension and I was not expecting that. It has been built as a road bike for sure. The damping is most definitly a smooth road set up - even on its electronically preset "softest" setting. I purposely hit the same mid corner bumps/pot holes as I did on my 950 on the trip in and the bike did get unsettled (and it has a steering damper), unlike my 40,000 mile 950 which kept the line. I twiddled with the suspension on the fly and could not find that much difference damping wise to be honest. The preload was ok though. Seat height was lower than the 950, bars, pegs, weight all felt similar to my 950. The only real pita is the indicator turn switch - it moves about 2mm from centre and is hard to tell if you've actually switched them on! The other thing is the useless horn - sounds like my daughters CBF125 .
Don't get me wrong, IF I was in the market for a new big bike, then it would get my cash hands down, but the suspension would for me, need sorting, which on a 12800 bike is a shame. I asked if the "R" was damped differently - they didn't know!! Also, they are not allowing test rides on the R either, KTM HQ policy!
Anyway, I jumped back on the 950 and searched out the bitchest roads I could find, patted her on her flanks and said to her "don't worry baby, you're still the best".
