Top Case for the 990

Hello,
I just got my adventure 990 about a month ago.
I have a few questions regarding it that I will ask with time I guess...

First,
Any recommended top cases for the bike?
Anyone knows http://www.globescout.de/ ??
Are they reliable? good? comfort?

Thanks,
A

Pelican 1500? I like that setup on my bike.

I just put the KTM adventure trunk on my 2012 and it has been a great bang for the buck. It's plastic but appears to be sturdy and I wanted one to be flat on top so that I can strap larger items to the outside.

I run the KTM/Shad case. It seems to be a great case for the money. Hopefully its waterproof...my ipad is sitting in it right now and its raining.

This is the KTM part number: 60012027600

I paid $168 for it through my local KTM dealer

Pelican 1500

Here's a picture of the Pelican 1500 on the 950. It's not huge, but I like the size. I can put a 15" laptop in it and get to work. The side cases are Pelican 1550s.

I hava installed the Hepco@Becker
I use side panniers Pelican Caribu and are very good quality.

First question is what do you want to carry? Do you want something big enough to store your helmet, groceries? I use a small Pelican Case (1450 IIRC), which works well for smaller loads.

SeaHorse 540

$45 for the case and $50 for the Hepco Becker Latch. Riveted the two together and I have a lockable quick release system. (my bike came with the mount HB mount)

I like the KTM Gobi top case but if you prefer aluminum, these guys make good product for decent prices: http://www.happy-trail.com/Products/...B10-12-47.aspx

Hello All,
Thanks for your inputs.

"el queso" is right, I didn't write what I need the case for.
The every day use is for my "working" bag which contains a Laptop, hard disk, charging cable, mouse and some extra sh*t in it. It is about 50X35X18 centimeters (highXwideXdeep) .
From time to time I would like to put some groceries from the supermarket.
Helmet and jacket for short terms parking.

I would like of course to have a "quick release" mechanism.
After taking out the case I want to have a flat rack that will fit my "riding" bag and traveling equipment.

On the last bike I had, Yamaha XT660Z Ténéré, I had a Givi rack + top case. It was very practical but the rack was not very useful without the top case.

I guess that ~40 Liters is my need, unless I will find a very wide case that will fit with my bag, but then my helmet would not fit in.
  • The pelican is very small and not fits my needs.
  • The KTM adventure and the Gobi (which looks very much the same to me) are a bit small for me. I tried them at my bike shop and it didn't fit my bag.
  • KTM/Shad Is the most practical, no doubt! An high ratio of money/value. However, I prefer an aluminium case.
  • Atlas has no photos or any info in their site.
  • Jesse luggage looks nice, I will try to find more about these guys.

Thanks!

For what its worth, the KTM top case seems to be waterproof.

I use the case for the same reasons you need a case. It works great.

Hi Aaronc,

I had Globescout 2x35 lt pannier and 45 lt topbox

It's excellent shape, looks very nice and high quality
Very stronger, very flashy

Topbox can fit a helmet and some little etc.
Side pannier can fit a your jacket but I'm not sure for your laptop bag

There is some information here
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...highlight=1190

unfortunately don't fit for your laptop bag
maybe change your laptop bag
