Glad you got out to ride today, it might be our last good day for a while. We'll see how this storm goes!

I decided it was not going to be warm for some time and started working on the bike today. Going to replace the headlight brackets with some off a GS550. Mine were damaged when the PO's son tried to learn how to ride and dropped the bike.

Ended up trying to get the fuel gauge working--no such luck. Ah well. Lousy weather and time to work on it again tomorrow.

Spring ride

We've had a long winter and winter has not wanted to let go easily this year. I've started stripping the paint, but haven't finished the job yet. I have no idea what color I want to paint it, but hey--no rush, right?

It looks like it is finally going to warm up and that means the farmers will launch into the planting season and Indiana will soon be green again. Until then, brown dominates the color scheme. Only one picture today--just not much interest in showing you brown fields. On the plus side, the bike is running as well as I could hope.

Nice pics and I have run some of the same roads. I live in Mooresville. You need to get down to Brown County and further South for some great riding.

Nice pics. I have a hard enough time finding interested roads around Fort Wayne.

Thumb In......

You got me. As much as I enjoy reading those epic once in a lifetime RR from distant lands, it's ones like this that I enjoy the most. I'm from down the road a few hours west but drove on many of those roads as a kid. All that and I have a weakness for classic bikes so yea, I'm in. I'm away on assignment for a bit longer so this carries me back at mentally during my downtime.
Thanks for sharing with us.

Yup some good roads around there. I've been wanting to check out the back roads around Atterbury. Ever been there?

Ride up that way to visit family from time to time, been through Avon too. Aunt lives in Pittsboro and cousins spread from there west out to Jamestown and Lizton. I like to come up 135 and then up to Martinsville to Danville. Good riding for sure.

Great report, rr. Thanks and keep it coming!

I'm a few years behind you, but it's funny how we took pictures of the same things in Danville!

Blacktruck,
Be safe and get home as soon as you can. I'd like to be reading your reports as you wander around your home as soon as possible.

To all,
Thanks for the encouragement. I intend to continue having quiet "adventures" around here this summer.

I have added a new partner in crime--a very rare moment when I had some money that wasn't budgeted for other needs occurred and I decided to find a bike I have wanted since I first saw one in 1999. This is an '01 with 9700 miles on it.

I have loved the old GR, but I am reluctant to wander too far afield on 30-year-old technology. Hey, I'm no mechanic and I am riding around on a bike I resurrected. :)

I love "classic bikes" too, Blacktruck, and the SV fits many of the attributes I like about them. Light, fun and engaging to ride are the things I look for in a bike. The SV is all of those things, but I have enough confidence in the bike that I can ride further and more often. I think it will be one of bikes that people will look to restore 30 years from now. I just decided to get in on the ground floor.

Looks like I won't be able to keep the old GR. We will have two kids in college next year and the senior year of high school tends to be expensive. Would love to be able to tear it completely down and take care of a few things--has a minor leak at the base of the cylinder heads and all the side cases need to be polished along with the need to paint the bodywork--but it looks like the next owner will have to do that. At least I got it running right and got the electrical system cleaned up. It taught me a lot about working on bikes and gave me a lot of pleasure. That is all I could ask of it. Will be working prepping the tank for paint today.

Enjoyed your report, T125. Beautiful Ducati.

Thanks! I'm hoping to explore the roads down by Atterbury (saw your question of harleymac1) this summer. Nice area down there.

Hey - NICE addition to the fleet!

I actually dreamt of one of those for a LONG time but for some reason ended up buying the VStrom. (Perhaps THIS website and the Stromtrooper site influenced me in that direction.)

So, my NEXT bike will be an SV :)
