J.W. Dant ain't too bad. Best thing is when you're done you can just throw the plastic bottle in the campfire.

Wish I could make this one, but my step sister is getting married.. Again (maybe third time is a charm ). But the good news is I'm taking the dirt bikes up and will get to do a little riding on Sunday.

Two days and 600 miles of Sportbike heaven

4 states of roads just like this.

Of course it's not complete without a rip or three through Deals Gap

The tow mule and hooligan sidekicks

We tent camped at Highvalley Resort in Suches, GA. Cold front followed us up there. 35 Friday night with howling winds. Saturday highs in the low 60's at lower elevations. Sunday a repeat of Saturday. Still it was very fun and we rode almost all the good paved Sportbike roads. The heated lodge at highvalley was a life saver. Good WiFi and satellite TV to boot. The shower house is now heated which was very good to have this weekend. Nice place to stay, always was in the past but even better now.

I've never been so cold riding that hard lol, tires with minimal grip are not fun at those speeds.

Trying to sleep in a tent with hurricane force COLD wind is no fun either even in a 30 degree bag

The riding part was easy compared to that

Nice cold river, Pigeon Forge tributary. Nice place to hang out in heat of summer but at almost 4000' elevation it's quite cold this time of year.

A Sportbike trip wouldn't be complete without at least one crash. A low side going up Blood Mountain US129 in GA resulted in a bruised ego, rashed leaking stator cover and a broke shifter lever. It was rideable even with the oil leak (GSXR's are so tough) so we limped to Blairsville to the Autozone for repairs. Borrowed a cordless drill and bits in the parking lot from a really nice fellow who had a lawn business. Drilled out the shifter and installed a bolt. Cleaned up the oil leak with brake cleaner and liquid steel did the rest. About an hour for repairs. The rider was unhurt, gear saves you regardless of what a Harley rider tells you.

The Gix ran fine the rest of the weekend.

Nah, Penn Station Rd off Crawford road's gravel portion. I've ridden Skinner before though, but that's a little south of my house.
