Laugh Pulled the Trigger 990 Adv. R

Well I pulled the trigger on a 2011 Adv R Almost 4 Weeks ago. The beast is almost showroom condition and under 3000 Miles. (Never been off road)

The bike has already got some great Farkles like Factory crash bars, KTM Digital heated grips, GPS Mount, Scott Oiler Akros and TT Aluminium top box an side bins.

Still haven't seen it in the flesh as I live overseas and its a UK Bike. A friend of mine went to test it and collect it on my behalf and i'll have it delivered all being well Monday or Tuesday next week.

To say that the wait has been agonising is an understatement.

Planned Farkles from my perspective will be as follows:

BDCW SideStand Relocator
Low Temp. Thermo Switch
BDCW 2nd Fan & Shroud (Gets Hot Here in Summer)
2x Baja Designs Squadron LEDs

Just cant wait to take delivery.

Spent all my time reading everything there is here and on the HOW

Looking forward to posting Some ride reports in and around Transylvania

Thanks all for keeping me company and making the loooong wait more bearable

only 48 is hours to go!

Hopefully it'll be a bit more refined than my last bike a plated BRP or Honda XR650R

Congratulations! I, too, have an 07 BRP and a 990 R - my guess is that you will love it! You will notice about twice the HP to the rear wheel going from BRP to the R... I find the R much more fun on the road than the BRP, but the R is surprisingly fun off pavement as well. That said, there are places I wouldn't take the R off road, but keep the BRP to do so when I feel the urge... Still, so long as you stay on top of the bike, the extra weight does not seem that big of an issue with the R. I find that I can throw the BRP around a bit off pavement, not so much so with the R. Respect the "mass" of the R and you should be fine. Also, the turning radius of the R is not as tight as the BRP - if you change it the bars would hit the shroud. Anyway - go have some fun!

Congrats! I bought damn near the exact same bike last weekend and have loved the 400 miles I've put on it. It feels like a great do everything bike! I was a little concerned about the height & lack of ABS but I'm 6'1" w/o shoes so no issues. Have had plenty of bikes w/o ABS-no issues.

The only shitty part of the experience? Parking her for the night

Its here :)

Well the wait is finally over

Took delivery at lunch time and i've done about 90 miles so far on the tarmac.

Immediate impressions I like

Much lighter than i thought it would be! Nice amount of power and handles well.

Almost forgot I'd got panniers in traffic!

Front forks are a bit squiggly but i'll have a real play with them tomorrow.

The throttle seems a little snatchy but I think i'll get used to it and I'm sure theres some slack in it.

Seems to run fairly hot with the fan kicking in it was 26 degrees C here today

She sure looks great:)

They all tend to run a little hot during the breakin period (and after aswell haha), nothing to worrie about until you don't see the red light and the flashing bars on the temp gauge:)

Congrats once again:)

Now get her dirty
