I've been walking to work lately.
Every morning, a Black Ducati Monster fly's down the street, sounding amazing.
Is this a sign?
LOL

I like the monster, at the same time thought I am tempted to buy a plated xr650r and ride to Honduras or something.

XR's are great, if you want to go out and do a bunch of gravel and stuff...lot's of stuff in between too. Good luck with your decision. The only advice I can give you is, get the bike that really trips your trigger. If you don't, every time you see one, you will think "I should've".

Bike shopping is fun!

Actually, there isn't just one bike that is the answer to all riding scenarios. Dual sports don't work very well on the street or in the dirt. Super sports aren't particularly suited to anything but hauling ass. Etc., etc. I've got my Supermoto KTM, it isn't the greatest on the freeway.but it does it everything else pretty well, and I have no delusions about it being a dirt bike. I'm looking at a KX250 2 stroke right now for some offroad duties, we'll see if we can strike a smokin' deal on it. You can always get more than one bike. I like to have several for all my riding needs.

There is two in my neighborhood that rush off to work after I have gone, a red one and a black, the black has Termi's on it and always makes my wife think I’ve returned.

My son always liked my '96 model and now he has his own, a '93.

He's stoked.

NICE! He does look pretty happy
Good looking monster! That's why I "had to have" the new anniversary model. Looks just like that, same tank stickers and all. Love the Red and Gold

Just found this thread.
I am on my third monster.
Bought a M750 salvaged bike years ago, fixed it up and rode it for a while. It was fun, but too slow. Here in Cleveland Ohio, all roads are straight and boring.

I was looking for a 900 a while back as I like the looks of e air cooled bikes a lot better then the water cooled, but came across a great deal on a S4 with high mount termis. Loved the bike, but didn't care for the gray frame and tank.

Two years ago I bought a used 2007 S4Rs and love it. The ultimate Monster in my eyes. I never warmed up to the new ones and my wife really wanted me to get a street fighter, but I don't care for them at all.

The only other bike I would consider as a replacement for this is a new speed triple R with a aftermarket headlight.

The bike is great for long weekend

Oh yeah...shut up.

How can you like the triple and not the street fighter? At least you would get a different headlight...Christ those are ugly!!!

I got my Sargent today. Short ride tells me its MUCH better. Feels a bit taller and differently shaped. Looks great!

Sent from my fat thumbs on a small touch screen.

thanks!

I need a spanner to adjust the chain. This is my first SS swingarm... anyone know where to order one? Does harbor freight have one that'll work? I don't know what I'm doing

Never mind....I found it: HERE
I might just see if they have one I can buy next time I am in there...

Well, 500 miles of riding in the midst of nowhere...I'm now onto my needing my fifth set of tires.

So far, it's been the following:

Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2's (3k)
Dunlop Q2's (3k)
Pilot Power Pure's (4k)
Metzler M5 (2 track days, 2,400 total miles).

Might have to try me some Pilot Power 3's next.

Any chance of a mini-review/comparison between all of those?

I guess you should get something less aggressive for the next set,
you're burning up a lot of rubber!

Maybe you should try Pirelli Angel ST.

I did a 500 km ride, a two day ride last weekend, rode along the western coast and western part of Java. 200 km of that ride was on a really horrible road. I didn't expect the road condition to be that bad.

Had a really great time on the way back when I rode through 40 km of fun twisty road.
