Sort of looks like a BSA, but not sure.

2011, but they all look the same (green/white tank shading) from 2010 on. Next year's model will be black/white shading according to the brochure. Here's a pic from another thread.

I never would have guessed. Great throwback to the 60's. Actually, even better than the Bonnie (and I'm a Triumph guy...).

Jimmyy, nice bike!

I had an identical 2011 Black Beauty. It was also my first adventure motorcycle and was the perfect way to get into this great lifestyle. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Have fun with the modifications. Eagle Mike is your new best friend. First up, for peace of mind, do the do!. After that everything else is gravy. Cheers, David

It feels like my old Thunderbolt and they are quite a different bike to the new Triumphs. 50hp and a lot of low-down torque. You can still get a used previous 650 model (higher hp and revvy like an old Bonnie) in the US - the 800 hasn't been imported yet, but that may change. There are a couple of threads in Road Warriors if you want to see some better pics and so on:

W650

W800

(Start at the end and work back to avoid all the ABS arguments and other crud.)

New to motorcycles; new to ADV, but not a newb

I have been lurking for a while; checking out the Sportster conversions for adventure touring. I almost bought a BMW 1150GS a few years ago, but it just didn't feel right. I decided that a Sportster, if configured correctly would make a truly fine adventure touring bike. I did a google search and it led me to ADVrider. Wow, there are some really great builds here. I decided I would try my hand at it. So, here is my new purchase as of today. 2002 Sportster 883 XL with just a little over 6,000 miles on it.

I have not completely decided on my final direction; but, I am leaning more towards a pseudo scrambler. Something that will take me down most dirt/logging roads and an occasional offroad adventure.

I have a vision as to the look I want to achieve, but have many questions regarding suspension; wheel base and wheel size. Hopefully after some intense questioning and suggestions I'll start my build shortly. This is with out doubt one of the best sites for adventure touring. You guys have something special.

Regards

Rod
