Me too, (Homochito is about 45 min from the house!) I just got my fork seals in for cx but not finished installing. XR has a rear flat (guess I should have worked on that today )

Weather is going to be fantastic -

Yea no shit! You making me feel like a slug!

So I got my lazy ass up this morning, then sat on the porch drinking coffee for bout an hour or 2, figured I burned up enough daylight so I better start doing something useful with myself today.

About 10am I was neck deep in this:

But had all the stuff I needed ready (seals, seal driver, fork oil, new dust seals, wrenches, shop manual) no excuses!

Then around 1pm I rolled the XR out of the way (with the flat on rear) and thought about tackling that repair after putting all this back together.
Naw - I hadn't drawn any blood yet - why risk it! Save that project for another day.

So now about 2PM: Putting things back together.

Time for a shake-down test ride!
Hell its still time to get to Homichito - I got a head light

Wanted to hit dirt quickly so I took the Greenwell Springs route, up hwy37 to 63 towards Clinton then 960 north to River Rd. (making dust now ) left on 10 over to Clinton then up BillyGoat road (more dust) then over to Whitetown (moe dirt up into MS) By now Im thinking I can head back an maybe I wont need that headlight . Cruze back via 448 then I notice my speedo not reading - crap! Well Ill check it at the next stop sign. Coming up to 37 and I grap a handfull of brake and the lever just slides all the way to the grip .
After stopping I find this:

Ok feeling like a knucklehead I relized I forgot to tighten the caliper bolts

Well it was a "Shake-Down" ride!

So simple enough - find a bolt I can use and still ride it home.

Ok didnt take any shots of the good stuff but I got this one on at the corner of 488 & 37 after the repair.

Ok slab it on back home and still got there before needing that headlight!

Lots of bikes out today, pretty much all hogs or cruzers!

Maybe I'll get to that flat later this week .

Glad you got the forks fixed.
Just got back. We did 270 miles today, I have several pics and a story to tell. Here is a sneak peek.

If y'all are interested I'm going to ride again Wednesday if the weather permits.

Looks like fun - wish I would have made that ride!
Wed is out for me - I got some safety training already scheduled that I can't get out of -

and the following wed we get a visit from some corporate chumps that I have to meet with. Maybe another try after that!

Do you have a gps - and save tracks?
Maybe we can collaborate on a future ride.

The plan is for folks to arrive and set up camp on friday evening. The camp sight is private property off HWY 18 between utica and port gibson. It is the same location as the DFR rally. You can find directions on that tread.

We plan to head south about 09:00 saturday morning arriving noon at vine brothers in centerville for lunch.

This would be a good time to meet up with those who could not make the trip up on friday. We have a rider who is on the injured list and is planning to meet us for lunch in his truck. He says he will gladly haul camping gear and such to the campground from centerville.

We"ll head back north around 1:00 and ride the 200 mile route back to camp by 7:00 or so. We"ll find something for dinner along the way.

The route is all paved backroads and gravel roads about 50/50 mix. Its all public and NF roads that can be riden wet or dry. the route and pace are better suited to bikes 650 and up.

Sundays ride will be shorter, app. 100 miles and end in port gibson around noon.

This is a BYO everything campout with no fees or charges. looking foward to meeting and riding with yall.
Thank you guys for inviting me and showing me a great riding area and meeting a great group of guys.

You guys really ride well and have your area down to a tee!

I would love to come back for more riding in the future and more fellowship with your group, really good people.

Thanks again, Jim

Hey Jim. Glad we got to meet up Sunday. Hate I missed Satty's ride, but Sunday made up for it. That is some fine roads in the area we rode today.
Bob sure sets the pace doesn't he? My kind of riding.

Yep I have a gps. I don't have the cable for it to download the info. But I know where we went. I do want to go back soon specifically to liberty road in homochitto. It had several good looking gravel roads but we didn't get a chance to ride them because we were hammered down to Natchez to eat.

Louisiana to Mississippi

Well I have been looking for new places to go riding, as I always am, and decided to head north into Homochitto. As always I’m usually up looking at Google Maps looking for new places to go. Its always funny and an adventure, especially with my cousin. We left at about 8:00 am and it was about 48*.
As I said I keep looking at new roads on the map and came up with a road called Clinton-Wilson road.

It starts in down town Clinton as a curvy narrow black top road, with hills on each side of the road. Later, it turns into moderate loose gravel then to dirt. This road to the left will take you south of Wilson on LA 19.

If you continue straight it will take you north of Wilson and just south of Norwood on LA 19. We continued straight.

From there we went north to Centreville Mississippi, on MS 33 north to Gloster. We continued north to Homochitto. This is where my GPS shows a street that will take you to an airport. It looks like a Jeep trail but my lying GPS shows it as a street that continues.

Here is what the” road” looks like from the main road.

We get to a section that opens up where people apparently dump their trash.

Here the road is covered with water and mud, and shockingly made it on the BMW with only street tires. (The bike needed help)

well we continue on before realizing the road dead ends. Now we have to back track.

Back to the black top we ride around a while and start getting hungry. So I tell my cousin that I Know a great place to eat. So now its hammer down and arrive in Natchez.

So we stop at The Pig Out, a good barbecue restaurant in down town Natchez. We then road around looking at the buildings from the 1800’s and stop by an overlook of the Mississippi River, and at the National Cemetery.

From here, we hall ass to Woodville and down Pinckneyville Road. We stop at this nature place that has trails and waterfalls but didn’t stay long.

From there we head toward Tunica Hills and ride several miles before running into two massive road blocks.

Someone was nice enough to make some 4-wheeler trails for us. It was rougher than the pictures show.

well several more miles of gravel before tying into blacktop on Ouita Irondale road and Sligo. Well we came out on U.S. 61 just south of the state line and headed for home

270 miles later we had good smile, good food and a good time.
hopefully sooner than laater we can have a group of riders go.
