So as not to get my Tennessee plates thread all mixed up, I'm starting a new one for my Natural State adventures. I'll be adding more trips, and might possibly include some state park visits, and some camping. So if you're local, and you might want to meet up, go ahead and subscribe to this thread.

Same stupid writing style...Same blurry photos...Same goal. Backyard adventures.

September 2012. The route:

GPX file for those playing along at home.
https://www.box.com/s/vu4077ddhh1ku1zs6z3v

The Baby Rhino ready to roll up to Mountain Home, AR.

Ride up was good, but hot. One of the bank signs said 98. It felt it.
Near the Greers Ferry Dam.

Two miles from the Hotel in Mtn Home, it cooled off...

Drying gear in my room...little did I know that later it would rain in there too. Had to move to another room after dinner.

Saturday:
Hwy 7 South of Jasper.

Distracting view as you ride along Hwy 7

Dam at Bull Shoals

Dam Viewing Area...Dammit

Very near Blanchard Springs Caverns

I just returned home and I want to go back already.

April 2013 Memphis to Rodgers:
Map is a little large. Damn near went across the whole state...and back the other way. (same route)

My first stop was in Bald Knob...to admire the artwork.

Hwy 16

Good ol' Hwy 7

Lunch...

Hwy 103

Hwy 43 headed to Ponca

Mt. Judea

Yeah, I know this one has been posted to death...

More Bald Knob art...

Mailed my taxes in early...

Helena Handbasket

GPX File

The premise of this thread is go out into the backyard and see as much as possible. You can have adventures close to home, you just need an idea that sounded good at the time, make a few wrong turns, and viola!

My tale begins at horseshoe lake in East Arkansas.

On this trip I finally found a way to ride up on the bluff next to the Mississippi river... but I had to cut through the flat lands first.

Made it up there.

The cows must not see many bikes, some of the younger ones started running. I did not get caught in a stampede, but I was thinking about what plan B would look like at that point.

Breaking in the new chain the hard way. Oh well.

Off the bluff and into some interesting scenery. St. Francis Park

I'll buy a beer for the next person that takes a photo of their bike with this sign.

I popped out of the woods into the backside of Helena, Ar. A group of kids was looking at me as if I had Kiss makeup and a monster truck...
Up the street I happened upon Fort Curtis.

Across the bridge from Helena headed to Lula, MS

The view from the other side...

The casino just over the river was giving away a prize...

I doubt they give away John Deere lawn tractors in Vegas...

Made it to Tunica, MS

...and then Mhoon landing. No, I didn't spell that wrong.

'Till next Time

I guess the Ozarks and North West Arkansas have been done to death eh.
Well, there is lots of other stuff in the Natural State.

How about Wheatley Arkansas? I got there just in time for the vacant building festival...

Did you know they have a train museum?

I wonder if this thing sounded like a BMW back in the day?

I found another one of these in Hazen, AR that was in better shape. I'll post that 'lil sucker in a few.

You may not know who Louis Jordan is, but I bet you’ve heard his stuff. He was born in Wheatley

More later...

My seat cushion looks like a tire tread off a large truck.

Break time!

A little late in the season for snowmobiles...but hey, whatever.

On to Hazen!

Whats that behind the caboose?

Here's the other little engine that could.(bit no longer can)

Stay tuned for a Big Dam story as I reach the Pinnacle of today’s journey...

Beautiful downtown Carlisle.

Hot water bottle.

Made my way back up to I40 and headed to Pinnacle Mountain State Park...To camp? (you ask) Nope. Not this time.

As a Memphis native, I couldn't resist a trip down Beale St. Way less going on here...Frankly, I think I may like this one better.

I saved the best dam photos for last.

Arkansan's have a great sense of Humor. Damgoode Pies is right down the street on Cantrell.
I don't have a photo but...(write this down) Get the "Stuffy Hog Pie with Pink Sauce" Don't add or subtract anything. Get it just like I said. You can thank me later.

Although my day’s journey ends up in a mediocre hotel in North Little Rock, I can’t complain. It’s been a great day to ride.

I'm in. Dad grew up in western Arkansas, spent a lot of time around there as a kid. Makes me homsick.

Why thanks man. I would love to spend a solid two weeks riding every road in those parts. In the early mornings up there all you see is bikes and critters. Love it.
